I say the US takes him up on it.

Turn himself and Zawahiri (unless he's dead) and al-Zarqawi in and the US will prosecute them WITHOUT the death penalty being an option.

Then, by the end of 2006 the US and coalition forces pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq....we'll have bountiful opium and oil in no time

bin laden never struck me as the negotiating type, this seems odd.

i think it was greenpeace's dragging of that dead whale to protest japan was what softened binladen's heart....

Ya man he was saying back in 2004 that they're 90% ready for the next attack....whatever...I stand with Q on this.

He doesn't strike me as any type. I think it is ridiculous to think we can make judgements about him based on a few soundbites released through the mainstream media.

^^^^^^

I'm with ace here.....at a minimum Bin Laden has been unjustly portrayed and framed by the mainstream media.

Frankly, Bin Laden is probably very misunderstood and really wants to be seen as the unifier in the Islamic world, not a firebrand.

Probably he's suffering immensely from kidney failure and maybe he wants dialysis?

I think he just saw the errors in his ways and wants to start fresh. Plus, he just really really wants a Big Mac. See guys, if Bin Laden can be down with U.S. influence, you should too!

Of course, DS, you'd be the one to catch on to this....

You the man!

I say let's change the laws in the US and let Bin Laden run for Prez...with as unpopular as Bush is, Bin Laden should win hands down.

Impeach Bush! Install Bin Laden! Islamic Republic of America! Allahu Akbar!

Now let me see here. War in Iraq not going well. Americans upset at government listening in on their phone calls. Bush's approval ratings going down the toilet. People apparently not scared enough anymore - I know, we need a new message from Bin Laden threatening more attacks! Get the CIA to authenticate it! Quick, or they'll all see the man behind the curtain!

Oh......

Bin Laden sent Bush the misleading intelligence about Hussein's weapons capabilities. Al-Qaeda's done it again!
