yes, it's awesome.:D
they are taking it back to sea... but they've got to make sure it's healthy and i think try and figure out why it came up to beach before they can just despatch it into the open waters.
it's quite sweet how it's the only thing on bbc news 24 all day!

:( Poor thing!
Apparently there's been a few other whales and dolphins up the Thames, the water quality has become so much better the last five years they've started swimming further up the stream.

People should just have left it alone. I bet it wanted to come ashore, sprout legs and eat humans. Who are we to ruin it's plans?
I bet MI5 knew all about it and were on the case straight away. Typical!

Survival was always a long shot and death was always the most unlikely outcome, but still... it would have been nice if it had made it.
mehhhh i don't get it. so much international coverage over this?
one whale dies of obvious natural causes in the Thames - how many others are getting slaughtered for "research" around our way?
doesn't seem fair to me.

You have to connect the dots and look for the possible positive outcome. This was the first sighting of an endangered species in the Thames since they started keeping records of these things. There is something metaphorical too that reaches people about the notion of this poor creature, seperated from its group, rushing into peril. So if this moves people, it is possible to use this as an apportunity to turn that public attention to the fact that Norway, Iceland and Japan still engage in whale hunting. It's not like that's not known, but now thousands of people have made something they feel is a more personal connection. If any of that translates into action, then it's a good thing.

they're starting to think it was sonar. that's what attracts a lot of dolphins into the nets on fishing boats.

In Stockholm you can fish (http://www.stockholmtown.com/templates/TwoColumnSPListing___11902__SV.aspx) good edible fish from the bridges in the middle of the city, just by the Royal Castle.
