My mom is in town for the weekend, so my wife and I left the two kids with her for a night out last night. We only get out together, maybe 3 times a year. It's pretty sick.

So, we go out to this Japanese steakhouse and dine like swines on some Tempura, Teriyaki, along with sushi/sashimi goodness. Afterward, I called up one of my single buddies to see if he wanted to have a few drinks with us. He said he was at the local bar by his house, so we went down to meet him.

We get there around 9, 9:30 and the first thing I hear is some 11 year old kid belting out "Piano Man." It's karaoke night!

It's like a sports bar/ restaurant and the youngins are still representing at this point. Anyway, we go inside, order a few drinks and I start to browse the karaoke catalog. Of course, I go right for the "B" section. Meanwhile, the karaoke selections are about 80% country, 15% oldies, and about 5% "holla back girl."

So, anyway, I find the Bboy list and lo and behold, it was stacked!!!!! Paul Revere, Brass Monkey, Sabotage, So Whatcha Want, Get it Together, Sure Shot, Check it out, no sleep til brooklyn, I think that's it.

So, eventually, after about 8 beers they make last call at the bar. Last call? I gotta spit!!!!! I decide it's time to represent for the 13 people still in the bar.

I step up to the mic and decide the crowd needs a little Paul Revere. About 15 seconds into the song, it's on and poppin. I put my beer down and start spitting like I mean. I held the mic tight y'all!!!!!

In true Bboy fashion, I tried to switch up the lyrics a bit for my live act:

1) I did it like this, I did it like that, I did it with a "stick ball bat."

2) I hollerd out the name of the bar when I said,"McKenna's is the fly spot where the got the champagne."

however,

The best was when I said, "I grabbed the karaoke guy and punched him in the face." The karaoke dude was a fucking old dork. I could tell he was "not" enjoying things. He really hated when I said this and grabbed in a headlock and acted like I was gonna punch him. I would got bounced, but the bouncer and bar owner were loving me too much.

At the end I said, "I grabbed two bartenders and a beer that's cold."

The karaoke dude must not have hated it too much. Cause after that he's like, "another?"

Fuck, I just owned the mic so, "why not?"

Brass Monkey!!!!!!

So, I ripped that to shreds. The bar loved me. Got all kinds of props from everyone. It was seriously so much fun, and my wife was so impressed that we're going to go back again.

I gotta spit on Get it Together!

And the tracks sounded good too.

When Brass Monkey starts up, I'm like, "turn that shit up dog!" It was classic.

My favorite part was after the first verse in Paul Revere. I dropped it like they do on tour with that "Party people what's that sound.................Keep it movin, baby keep it movin' on."

It was straight rope.

If you have digital cable on Comcast I think, they karaoke on the on-demand selection, "Ch-Check It Out" is listed under hip-hop/r&b, very surprised to find a non-LTI song on there.

Last night, there were guys with karaoke machines on various streets in the south hills and they were broadcasting their semi-drunken versions of the Steelers polka song (with unbelievably strong Pittsburgh accents). The one guy had the echo feature on.
