Isley Brothers or the Beatles?

Me? I like the Isley Brothers' version. It's got a kind of sloppy charm to it and makes the Beatles' version sound even more strained than it already sounded.

And those drums sound like they were recorded in Studio One or something. Very cool.

Gotta be the Beatles,Its just one of those songs that i grew up with and I'm a big beatles fan. And it reminds me of Ferris Buellers Day Off, which is ace.

The isley bros version is good, and I can only think of two other versions and they are both a bit ropey - Salt n pepa and Chaka Demus & Pliers

I don't really like this song to be honest.

Or Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

But yeah, the SnP version is terrible.

I love the Beatles, but I think the original is the better of the two.

I thought that was the low point of Ferris Bueller's Day Off...Of an otherwise great flick

but maybe that's just me. I remember when I was in the theater and I'd never heard the song bf I thought WTF. But hopefully that's just me. My $'s on the Isley Brothers

When the Beatles recorded Twist and Shout, John Lennon was screaming so hard that his throat started bleeding. He was drinking a pint of milk to soothe his voice, and soon the milk turned pink. True story.

I've been wavering, that story pushed me over to the Beatles. Shake it Up Baby!

Own 'em both. John is too infectious with joy during that song....and now that the pink milk story is out I have an all new respect for that session. I'll give the Isley's credit with the horns and all, but that fucking bloody scream of lennon's kicks the door down.

Fair enough.

The drums on the Isleys' version sells it, for me. The whole studio sound is very cool.

..The Who's version is probably that one from their first farewell tour. It was nothing; a total toss-off.
