LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Character actor Chris Penn, younger brother of Oscar-winner Sean Penn, was found dead on Tuesday at an apartment near the Pacific Ocean in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Monica, police sources said.

No cause of death was immediately determined but there was no signs of foul play, the sources added.

A family spokeswoman confirmed the death and said the Penn family "would appreciate the media's respect of their privacy during this difficult time."

Penn, 43, was a character actor who appeared in dozens of films including "Reservoir Dogs," "Mullholland Falls" and the 2004 film "Starsky & Hutch."

In one of his best known roles, he played baby-faced criminal Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in director Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs." He also starred along with his brother in the 1986 film "At Close Range."

Recently, Penn voiced Officer Eddie Pulaski in the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

I'm no expert but the words "actor", "Los Angeles" and "dead" just don't fit with the phrase "no foul play".

I find it odd that the family released a statement asking for the media to respect their privacy yet they do not mention Chris or their loss.

I liked him in At Close Range with his brother Sean and Christopher Walken.

RIP

Character actor Chris Penn, younger brother of Oscar-winner Sean Penn,

it took 5 words (6 if you don't count "younger")

His finest performance was in 1984's "The Wild Life". Besides Chris Penn it also starred actress Lea Thompson, actor Eric Stoltz and actress Jenny Wright. It was Chris Penn in his definite youthful prime and proves just how "skinny" fit he once actually was and funny too ! I highly reccomend it cause "Its casual." (y)

WHY NOT SEAN?
Why not KANYE WEST?

I always enjoyed seeing him in movies. Even in crap like Rush Hour. And yeah, The Wild Life and At Close Range were great. It's really too bad. I liked the guy.

You can't be serious??

Try heroine, cocaine, or crack with a serious weight problem.

This news sucks. I always tend to open up Nice Guy Eddie lines when I'm shitfaced at a party.

"We gotta get rid of all those cars. It looks like Sam's hot car lot out there."

"D'you see that, daddy. Vic just tried to fuck me."

Ahhh, well. It'll have another purpose now.
