View Full Version : Romance vs Lust.....man

Does one do more for you than the other? Do you find that you're more intrigued by the likelihood of sex over romance? Do you got a little bit of class or are you just a big hornball that wants to hump anything that moves? I guess it generally depends on the individual circumstances.

I'm not actually consumed by any of this stuff anymore, since I'm not single or anything, but I don't think that upon first meeting any of my past girlfriends I ever thought to myself, "man, I'd sure like to put my penis in her". So maybe I'm a sucker for love. I don't know. But there have been girls that I knew I'd never want a relationship with that I just thought of as hot, and that would pretty much be the extent of it.

I know they're kinda apples and oranges, but whatever. I'm not ashamed to admit that, yeah, I always used to look forward to meeting girls I'd want to actually get to know better. I had a lot of guy friends that couldn't have cared less and just sort of wanted to meet girls for mostly anything other than a relationship. Most of them have moved on and kinda settled down for the most part, but I still have a few friends that routinely go looking for "Ms Right Now" at clubs every weekend. I don't really get it. Whatever. I think Nietzsche summed it all up best when he said, "meh".

i think i told someone once: lust makes me want to kiss [the boy], romance makes me want to hold his hand.

not everyone gets to hold my hand. actually, i think only 4 guys have ever held my hand.

but if im drunk enough, and youre cute enough, i'll kiss you for a bit.

I used to be all about the lust, until somebody brought out the romantic in me.

Now we have a kind of romantic lust going on.

We don't go all ostentatious with exploding geese and velvet wallpaper, but we'll go and scoop some burgers, watch the stars and just talk shit. It's like the natural extension of oneself. It requires little effort, yet would never, ever, be taken for granted.

That said, until this point, I'd try to fuck any female that looked at me. Mostly unsuccessfully.

True Story: Once I realised I was trying to fuck any female that looked at me I retreated into celibacy. It was the cold turkey, junk-kicking exercise that really taught me how futile my pursuit of some poontang was. I instead grew to understand that I wanted to know a person. Then hit her up for some nookie.

I can't get to sex with a guy unless there's a connection and having a connection has to include having romance.

To me, romance isn't flowers and gifts. It's conversing, interacting, sharing, having common interests, being spontaneous, considerate, loving, kind, etc.

If the connection weakens, then my interest in the sexual aspects of the relationship also weakens.

I've really not thought much on lusting...

I'm feeling exceptionally romantic towards someone, we both are interested but are taking it easy. It's just nice having someone to share and do things with and that makes us happy

I've had moments over that purchase. If it's going to be 25+ items in the cart...OK, but you know when it's just ice cream and kotex I'm pretty stubborn, it gets pretty pretty expensive buying filler to cover.

What's up with these companies? What if kotex just would change the packaging a little, some sort of nascar or NFL theme so dudes didn't look so fucking ridiculous?

They could design it to look like a six pack of Bud Light

I generally get hit with both at the same time. Developing romantic feelings on a similar level to my labidinal desires (probably a real phrase). So I guess my answer is that I have difficulty distinguishing between the two anymore. I always want some of each. I didn't used to be that way 12 years ago. But I can't recall/relate to how I used to be 12 years ago. Glad I wrote it all down.

tampons are about the width of a pinky or ring finger (unless they're the super size, then maybe a thumb) and are cottony and rough, not exactly veiny or throbbing, and used to plug up unsuccessful baby batter leakage. there's not much sexy about them. and when you put them in, you're already gooed up enough that you barely even feel them. nowhere near a penis.

I agree with enree 100%. But to me this isn't really a versus question.

For me, at least, its about romance leading to lust. I fell in love with my boyfriend and I find him irresistable sexually. And I can look at other guys and appreciate that they are good looking or have good bodies or whatever but at the end of the day, I get close to him, hug him, smell his boy-clean-tshirt smell and its like *snap*.

I have a ton of that stuff, mens cologne, but rarely use it. All the good stuff too. I dated a cosmetics counter (Nectar Nazi) technician from Macy's for a spell and ended up with all that stuff. I'm talking 30+ bottles of men's foo foo.

The girls at the counter told me their absolute fav on men was Fahrenheit Cologne by Christian Dior. Not that this has anything to do with romance, lust or feminine hygiene products. Just a FYI.

It's not so much that they go hand in hand, but one does lead to another. You can have lust without romance, but romance seems to lead to something else -- not so much lust as passion -- which is so much more than lust.

In the past, I may have been incapable of recognizing anything other than lust.

I'm not surprised you're not surprised.

Good point, marsdad. Lust isn't the same as passion. I think that's where some of you are kinda misconstruing the question. Passion involves actual feelings unlike lust. Lust is just some selfish craving.

I have a weakness for a guy who smells good  ...This may be 2 much info but the other day i was with my boyfriend and i was kissing his neck and he had this very faint but pleasant scent and i was so incredibly turned on by his little 'suprise', even though it was such a simple and normal thing just being so close and getting this little like i said 'suprise' reminded me of how much i truly enjoy being with him.

In so many ways this thread applies to me, I'm a hopeless romantic always and forever but at times i can be somewhat 'sexual' if u will, but i know that the thought of sex and things is made so much better because of how much i truly love my boyfriend. On the subject of making love versus having sex i agree that making love is way more than just a physical thing, as corny as this is gonna sound it's kinda a joining of way more than just your hips, and at least personally you almost get more feeling than just having hot animalistic sex.

I'm allergic to most of it, so I don't know anything. I just know that when my friend andy goes out he wears cologne and I go, "eww, are you wearing cologne?" and he looks at me, outstretches his arms throws his head back and says, "what? it's dolce & gabbana baby, the ladies love it!" and he yanks at his collar like rodney dangerfield.

Mr.p wears some kind of something from the Body Shop, I don't know what it's called. It's nice though, kind of woodsy, a bit like he's been chopping firewood and then had a nap in a pine grove. If I had give it a name I'd call it Lumberjack, but I'm quite sure that's not actually it - not a very good perfume name, is it. Maybe something more French-y would be better. Like Lumberjaques.

I used to be unwilling to buy condoms by their lonesome. They would have to be wedged in a cart at Target with other things. I was a cashier there and when I was 16 I used to be embarrassed by such things.

The trouble with some dudes wearing fragrances is that they tend to put too much on. You gotta spray a little in the air and just sort of walk into it. You shouldn't be able to smell it on yourself, and a lot of times guys just keep spraying and spraying it on because they think it isn't quite noticeable enough yet. It should be subtle. If it's giving you a headache or hurting your sinuses, you should probably shower it off. Same goes for women.

I prefer to go to a male cashier if I happen to be picking up maxi pads for my better half so that I can just be like, "Yeah, I just use these to wipe the dashboard in my '68 Camaro with".

i don't care what a guy wears as long as it's not Ck One or any other unisex fragrance.
