I'm enjoying the "Morcheeba Get Mashed" collection that's floating around. Some of it is kind of sleaze, but a lot of it it good. They mixed 'Hold it Now..' on there.

There's a cool one I've heard that uses Ying Yang Twins' 'The Whisper Song' that has more of a dance music vibe to it.

know it's kind of old but I'm also dig Zongamin vs. Dizzie Rascal - 'Bongo Song vs. Stand Up Stand Tall'

I like the Bring the Noise vs Seven Nation Army one best, never found it anywhere but the DJs at my fave club used to play it a lot.

It's losing it's novelty and originality.

That message to ODB - Specials vs Ol' Dirty one wasn't bad.

I've got quite a few mashups and almost all of them could have been done better.

I quite enjoyed the Beastles ones - they were good fun but that digital-type-stutter thing that BC uses could have been so much better with vinyl and a decent scratch DJ.

Mashups have been a part of reggae/dancehall type stuff forever and there's always been hip hop DJs mixing accapellas over instrumentals in mixes.

It's always something I'll enjoy but I'd agree that the whole thing got trendy and over-saturated a few years back.

see. first of all i live in a small city and it hasn't gotten old here. actually it hasn't even really caught on, at least not in the clubs.

second, i want something a little more than just a remix, which i know all about and i know about all the dancehall/reggae stuff too. i have plenty of that at home.

i just want some really neat stuff to check out. stuff like what girl talk is doing, even though i know there's not too much out there like his stuff.

All the beats are made from radiohead's new album. I've plugged it here before.

Also, here's a track (http://hippomothamus.blogspot.com/2007/12/track-from-mixtape-im-considering-doing.html) I made for a american gangster remix album that I've not done anymore work on.

Sorry Ace - I didn't mean to sound like I was knocking them - like I say I usually enjoy them.

I like that 'Frontin' on Debra - Pharrell vs Beck' one a lot and I think that was a legal one.

I've been having a look around using google and Wikipedia and stuff and there's loads of interesting links and stuff out there. I hadn't really read much into the 'bastard-pop' concept much before - it's interesting.

Of course with all the giving away accapellas and stuff the Beasties are totally involved with the mash up thing and I enjoy a lot of the fan remixes and mash ups. They could possibly be one of (if not) the most mashed/remixed bands in the world - I wonder if there's anyone with statistics out there? beastiemixes.com?

Personally I'm not such a massive fan of the house and techno mash ups and prefer hip hop, reggae, soul, rock and pop type ones - but each to their own.
