Hi there,

don't know if this Thread in the right section or not ...

I'll have something to show up, the Beastie Boys had an artwork for their 1999 tour through Australia, designed by Dillon Naylor as you can see by gigposter.com (http://www.gigposters.com/posters.php?poster=29988#)

But ... Since 2004 the european Rock am Ring festival. The biggest in germany get an new artwork ... but you'll see on the official homepage (http://www.rock-am-ring.de) ...

My guess is that the artwork in the 1999 Beastie Boys poster is an allusion to the artwork in the 2004 posters, not the other way around. An artistic joke of sorts - rather than monsters, it's the Beastie Boys with lasers shooting out of their eyes. To state the obvious, this would mean that the art in the 2004 posters - or at least the archetype of it - had to have been around before the 1999 poster.

I'd go with the more logical (and chronologically coherent) explanation.

The art concept does have stylistic links to the BB poster, especially the colours and layout.

even the font is similar..

looks like Dillon Naylor and Marek Lieberberg promotions should have battle royal...

and then someone could make a poster for the event...

Their based on the old Space Invaders (http://pixeleye.de/spaceinvaders/flyers/inv2_1.jpg) arcade artwork. but yeah still the they coped from the BBoy adaptation.
