I can't remember this being done before.
It's been done a million times in a million universes.
futurama.

On this board, in the two years I've been posting here.

I put both because if I say simpson's bender will cry and if I say futurama maggie will cry, and I am not making a robot and a baby cry twice in one day.

It's a toughie. Simpsons has the larger catalogue, which means a lot more great moments. However, Futurama is generally a lot more raw, and I like that. The Simpsons can often be a bit sentimental.
So, Futurama gets the edge, just. Mainly because I have seen the Simpsons eps SOOOO many times that Futurama is fresher, again despite me having seen those eps SOOOO many times.

The Simpsons for sure. I grew up watching them and seen practically every episode. Though, Futurama isn't too shabby.

The percentage of Futurama episodes that are funny is around the 95% mark, the percentage of Simpsons episodes that are funny is rapidly approaching the 50% mark because of the absolute SHIT they've been bringing out for the last 5 or 6 years.
I used to love the Simpsons, but the last few seasons have soured my memories of it forever, whereas I look back on Futurma with nothing but fondness.

perhaps we should narrow the Simpsons down to season's 4-10....to be fair.

Yeah, I considered this, but the scientist in me shook its head in disgrace saying 'Any hypothesis that you develop will be flawed because of bias, and any testing of that hypothesis not be considered a true reflection of what is actually happening. Therefore, the results from the testing process will be unreliable.'

That's a very (!) hard question. I voted for the Simpsons though,
because they got more everyday-situation-quotation-possibilities.
But Professor Zoidberg is soooo cool.

I think new Simpsons suck, so I turn to Futurama repeats or better yet, Family Guy.

I don't think anys show beats the golden seasons of the simpsons. Futurama was damn good and family guy is up there as well.

even the newer family guy episodes arent as good as the old ones. i mean, don't get me wrong, i like them and tink they are funny. but its nothing compared to those first couple years.

I think Matt Groening wanted Bender to be the Homer kinda character but Zoidberg is the closest thing to it - he's not in futurama enough for me

I agree, but they should show the hypnotoad more often, as well :D
at least if they're really doing new episodes...

Seriously? I'd rather new futurama than the new simpsons we're gettin now - they still make me laugh but not as much and they've pretty much done everything they can with it ..twice! They're better off trying to make futurama bigger and better.

futurama. simpsons was great when i was 8. but looking back on even the earlier episodes - the quality of writing and animation (technological advancements aside) is way higher in futurama. you can tell that a lot of work went into each episode.
and simpsons for the last five years or so have been just plain awful, unwatchable crap.
there's not a single futurama episode i don't love.

There's a thread in this forum somewhere, with a pressinformation about it.
I still like the Simpsons a lot. Even the new stuff. I guess we aren't that far
behind you guys here in Germany...

Frrebasser has summed my feelings up exactly. In fact, if I weren't such an egomaniac I would have just quoted him and left it at that. But here I am, cluttering up the bottom of the post box. Ooooh my sig!
the simpsons is still good as long as you practice denial. if you totally ignore the shitty seasons, it's pretty much the greatest show ever. i've been watching the DVD's, it's up to season 7, and really it's the greatest show ever.
i love futurama too, but only because it reminds me of how great the simpsons used to be. also because it's the second greatest show ever
