Cindy Sheehan arrested....is this a 24 episode?

edit:

from yahoo,,,

"Schneider said Sheehan had worn a T-shirt with an anti-war slogan to the speech and covered it up until she took her seat. Police warned her that such displays were not allowed, but she did not respond, the spokeswoman said."

silly woman. her face could have been on network tv instead she got thrown the eff out.

The monkey speaks. I've been listening and chuckle, kinda the same way I chuckle at sam's remarks. Same way...

But I'm still watching.

You have to know your enemy, or so I hear.

He just got angry at the Democrats when they clapped 'against' him. And raised his voice.

He might aswell be giving everyone the double bird for all I care, spineless swine they all be.

I've been taking a shot everything he lies, or has a shit eating grin on his face after a big word. Boy I'm gonna be shit faced soon.

the republicans think it's a victory when bush has a speach where he doesn't fumble his words, say "uh", and can look straight

I missed it, but let me guess....same talking points with empty promises

I watched this retrospective on State of the Union speeches from the last 50 years on CNN and you know what... everyone before this Bush guy (yes, even Reagan and Bush Sr.) was pretty compelling. Bush's stuff really fell flat.

""Bush ruled out a withdrawal by saying, "If we were to leave these vicious attackers alone, they would not leave us alone. They would simply move the battlefield to our own shores." Via all those Iraqi and Palestinian aircraft carriers, no doubt. Words. Just words. Spoken only as a man who ran from war when it was his turn could speak them.

Bush called for all of us to "stand behind the American military." I agree. We should show our total support of our sons and daughters in uniform by bringing them home tomorrow. Then we can get busy court martialing the generals and impeaching the sickening excuse for a man now occupying the Oval Office.

As expected, Bush repeatedly set up the coming invasion of Iran. "And we do not forget...Syria, Burma, Zimbabwe, North Korea and Iran because the demands of justice, and the peace of this world, require their freedom as well."

Ohh, now democracies in the Middle East are going to look different than ours. Oohhh. How things continue to change.

Except his State of the Union speeches. Its always about the same thing. Nothing changes. Line Item Veto? Why? He said he would veto the transportation bill if it went over a certiain number and it did. And he didn't veto. With the overwhelming success of his medicare perscrition plan and nailing the cost of the plan right out of the gate, wonder why he hasn't gotten anything else passed.

Dude lives in a bubble. 8 years and nothing amazing to show for it. Whats to be proud of?

It is not that the emperor has no clothes; just that he has no credibility left. It often gets so disheartening to cut through the plethora of misdirection and subterfuge in the speeches of George W. Bush. This State of the Union contained more of the same from Bush that we have heard over the past years. Unfortunately, most of his rhetoric does not match his record. You must understand as citizens that it is time to hold this president to his record, not his word.

The Rule of Law – President Bush tonight looked America in the eye, and lied. There is no other way to state his ridiculous position on the NSA spying scandal. Bush stated that previous presidents had used this power but this is patently false. In the past, president’s have used the authority to wiretap FOREIGN individuals, NOT Americans. He further stated that he had the statutory authority to engage in the wiretapping but this is also untrue. He appears to be basing his authority on the Congressional mandate to have him pursue the war on terror. Congresspersons from both sides of the aisle have denounced this notion is absurd. The fact is that Bush was not given any such mandate to bypass congressional oversight and violate the federal law. Lastly, to further justify this illegal activity, the president made the erroneous claim that if this wiretapping had existed prior to 9-11, we would have been able to prevent two of the hijackers and possibly thwarted that horrible day. Playing upon the fear and sadness of a nation, Bush grossly misrepresented the truth on this matter. We knew about these two terrorists prior to 9-11 and it has already been confirmed that it was bureaucratic problems that prevented their detention. Bush himself was also briefed on the al Qaeda’s plans, but went on vacation. The larger issue though on this point as well as all of Bush’s rhetoric in regards to the NSA spy scandal, is that no one is suggesting al Qaeda spying should be shut down, just that Bush should follow the law. Prior to the Bush administration, there were over 19,000 requests to the secret FISA court for wiretaps and only FIVE were denied. This court also allows a president to start a wiretap and seek court approval within 36 hours. No, there is no excuse for why this president chose to violate the federal law and then brag about it to the nation. Faced with the mounting criticism Bush is left with no choice but to wrap up his illegal spying in 9-11 and pray that America falls for it again.

did you notice how when he began his speech about coretta scott king, when the legislators clapped he was all pissed off looking because the applause wasn't going towards him??

how about when he was applauded, he looked like such an arrogant... doesn't wish to continue for fear of FBI or CIA killing me

and what was up with all that standing up and sitting down, and standing up and sitting down... it looked like they were doing the wave

'Even Reagan'?

The dude was an actor and he was renowned for his public speaking. It was easily his strong point.

Policy-wise, eh, but as a public persona, he was fucking brilliant.

Like I said, he was an actor.

Yes, but it actually felt like what Reagan was saying was of substance. Even if there was no substance, he at least had style. I didn't watch this latest State of the Union but it's a safe bet Bush didn't offer anything new or even anything mildly interesting. With Bush, style AND substance are thrown out the window.

P.S. - I was a bit disappointed that the retrospective didn't show clips of Ford or Kennedy's State of the Union. Spent too much time showing Bush's lamewad rhetoric.
