"I think no one would be surprised at the idea that the use of spy-planes to review what is going on would be considered. What is surprising is the idea that they would be used painted in the colours of the United Nations in order to provoke an attack which could then be used to justify material breach."

Pick up the gun!So what? Who's going to do anything about it now, Iraq is occupied, the air bases are built there and in Afghanistan.
The Real Target. (http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=iran&btnG=Search+News)
US defence secretary Donald H Rumsfeld said all possibilities are still being considered in the dispute over Iran's nuclear programme, including military action, a German newspaper reported on Sunday.
"All options - including the military one - are on the table," the daily Handelsblatt quoted Rumsfeld as saying in an interview to appear in its Monday edition.
"Any government that says Israel has no right to exist is making a statement about its possible behaviour in the future," added Rumsfeld, who attended a weekend security conference in Munich, Germany. So, when Iran says things about Israel, the military option is being considered. But when people react angrily to blasphemous renderings of the Prophet, they are 'taking things too far'.
Oh, the hypocrisy.

are you fucking kidding me? there's a huge difference between a satirical cartoon, and saying that the holocaust was a myth/israel should be wiped off the map.
are you fucking kidding me? there's a huge difference between a satirical cartoon, and saying that the holocaust was a myth/israel should be wiped off the map.Words, words, words.
The satirical cartoon depicted Moslems as bombers - what, do you think, would be the effect of that?
pictures, pictures, pictures.
the effect seems to be riots in the streets, which is ridiculas. when the family guy depicted jesus as a glorified magician, i laughed my ass of, i didn't go down to the city square and ask for the heads of the writers.

Maybe you don't care as much about Jesus as some people do about Mohammed.
And some Christian people do care enough about their beliefs to riot and kill (http://hvh.all-catholic.net/leaflets/notshoot.html)...

yeah and the incidents of violence are equal...
uh huh.
the fact of the matter is that christians have moved on to TV, consumerism, and Nascar....
while the muslims are still living out the Crusades in many countries....

Yes, the Muslims are still fighting Christian invaders in many countries. Afghanistan, Iraq, and soon Iran to name three.
But I didn't realise the Christians were watching Nascar while they were out there.

so you think that burning down buildings, and rioting because of satirical pictures is justified? if christians, or any other religions reacted the same way to light-hearted satirical-type things, i would ridicule and condem that as well.
there's a big difference between jokes, and slander. from what i gather, these cartoons weren't meant to offend.

again, confusing christianity with americans.
confusing christianity with nationalism.
we are not a nation of christians united under one cross.
certainly not in the manner that muslims are united under the belief in Islam.
you could pull up the stats of christians in the US (a big majority), but make no mistake...there is a BIG differance in those that answer "christian" in a poll...and those that are actually PRACTICING christians, belonging to a church and actively trying to enact the "word of jesus".
American are nuts...but we aren't nearly as devoutly religious as some hyperbolic articles and news clips would lead you to beleive.
that's why i say american (christians) are far more into watching TV, buying shit, and watching Nascar than they are spreading the word of jesus....
religion is a past time to most americans....not an actual way of life.

Tish and Fipsy. Moslem states are completely divisive. Persians vs Arabs, secularism vs theocracies, monarchies, shias and shi'ites and sunnis. That is a gross and ignorant simplification.

It has been replaced by nationalism, which is exactly the same thing, but instead of bowing down to a God and symbol, you bow down to a state and slogan.
They serve the same function and work in the same way. Suggesting that Republican dogma is more enlightened than Islamic dogma is just cultural prejudice.

just fuckin admit that the Islamic religion is more violent in today's world than any other religion.
admit it....

i was simply comparing CHRISTIANITY and other world religions to ISLAM on the basis of sanctioned violence.
nothing more, nothing less.
i was not comparing the US nationalims to ISLAM on the basis of sanctioned violence.
you obviously want to do that....REALLY REALLY bad.
go for it....i'll cheer you on and throw you roses. no argument here.

So, by "moved on", what you actually meant was "have just swapped justifications for something equally farcical."
Fair enough, I will agree with you. But that does make the value judgements that are creeping into your posts quite meaingless.
"The christians have moved onto..." Iraqi land and secular justifications, last I checked.

my comment about christians moving on to "..." , is commentary on them really not giving a shit about jesus anymore, at least anymore than lipservice....
compared to follower of Islam who would strap a bomb to thier backs.

So, really, it was a pretty pointless sentiment. Christians pick up a gun for their fallacious reasons, Moslems for theirs.
Still says more about the people than the religion.

"Clausen said the paper did not intend to provoke Muslims by running the political cartoons. "Instead we wanted to show how deeply entrenched self-censorship has already become," he said. After the explosive reaction to the drawings, however, you would be hard pressed to find a Danish cartoonist willing to risk drawing any caricatures relating to Islam." - DenmarkNews.net. "The Danish daily Jyllands-Posten originally published the cartoons in September after asking artists to depict Islam's prophet to challenge what it perceived was self-censorship among artists dealing with Islamic issues. oh rest assured, ALI is the one who looks stupid.....again.
ALI is always the first to accuse others of not researching a topic or what they post...
yet time and time again, he is caught with his pants down when doing the same.
he's "link happy", but never researches his links fully.
he just rushes to google, then rushes to post the links...as if expiditing links replaces judicious research.
but his attitudes never change.....
