was the most pointless day of my life.

I was closing for the first time ever, which obviously means I have to be there after everyone else. I was there from 5:15 - 10:45, and I had FOUR fucking tables. On top of that, one of them had a $100 tab - left me five bucks. Fucking dickheads - and my service was awesome cause I had nothing else to fucking do.

Then these two ladies come in at TEN minutes to closing - how rude can you be? I never go into a place unless they have like 40 minutes left. The ladies stayed there untill 10:45, at least, they were still there when I left!

SO DUMB.

It's not called food service for nothing.

I worked at food service establishment on Super Bowl Sunday when my team won the whole damn thing. I brought in a TV and my drug-addicted co-worker stole $300 from the register. Overall, a pretty good day.

$2/hr?! I made more working in a cafe through high school. You need a new job.

To top it off, your state has piss beer, so you can't even get the "let's give the cute waitress extra money because I'm drunk" tip.

Well when it's busy I can make 12-15 bucks an hour.

I am gonna find another job though, just don't want to deal with that right now.

$2/hour is fucked up. what's minimum wage in utah? i realize that restaurants often pay less than minimum wage on account of tips and all, but even so, $2/hour seems, i don't know, third world almost. i've never been a waiter, are they all THAT low?

DandyFop

I think that's pretty normal...

It's 2.15 to be exact.

I don't know what min. wage is here, 6 bucks or something?

bummer, dude.

Isn't $2.15... illegal?

I've never worked in a restaurant, but I don't see how you can be paid below minimum wage (even if you get tips). I thought the minimum wage laws were there for a reason, to make sure you couldn't be paid any less.

Jobs where tips are common are the exception to the minimum wage rule. There are places where the wait staff work SOLELY for tips.

BTW-I never tip under 20% unless the server just plain sucks. Then it's 15.

I'm wondering if this isn't some American thing. Perhaps I should ask a waitress if they're paid below minimum wage. Hmm...

I don't know if it's just American or not. It really sucks though.

I'm just waiting for some asshat to come in an give Mr. Pink's anti-tipping speech.
