My dad is into family trees, and has been doing various research into our past. He's just made a much more recent discovery though - while searching wedding registry entries he came across the entry of his own marriage to my mum - or lack thereof.

Apparently, the idiots at the registry office didn't complete the forms completely, so their wedding was never made official, even though they thought it was for 30 or so years.
