Sonic. Mario games were good but didn't have the same appeal Sonic has. Mario Kart DS is one of the best games I've ever played, though.

The hardest ever boss was on Sonic 2. You had to beat the metal Sonic and then kill the big bad thing.

The thing with Mario is that there were so many levels and you had to do this and that and you could save the game...

Whereas Sonic was non-stop, all or nothing, balls to the wall action. If you wanted to complete the game you fucking did it in one. Three hours later and you had square eyes, but you were satisfied.

Sonic was good gaming untill it went 3D, thats where Mario killed him, but wait until this next gen Sonic...the graphics are stunning (1million polygons!!!). The Sonic soundtracks (Sonic, Sonic2, Sonic3, Sonic CD espically, Sonic/Knuckles) were untouchable.

i LIVED sonic. i breathed it. i've beaten sonic 2 so many times...and completed almost every mission with an A, except for the racing ones. them shits are hard. but yeah. so many memory cards filled with so many memories...and yeah, i raised me a few chao. okay, a few dozen. i cry when they die. :o

ah this is a toughy.

you see, back in the day i was a sega girl. no nintendo in sight.. i was all about the mega drive, and sonic reigned supreme. it was just a fantastic game, and one of those first blissful childhood games that you finally complete and return to it over and over again - the 2 player was awesome too.

but now, now i am an all round nintendo freak. i will represent nintendo till the day i die. the first mario game i played was super mario sunshine, which just made me smile so much and was super imaginative. then i had paper mario: the thousand year door which was similarly great. ah and the best racing game of all time, mariokart! also mario translated superbly to all the handheld devices. i predict the next mario for the revolution to be super duper.

mario has gone from strength to strength, but sonic has died, along with sega, on its little blue hedgehog ass - the recent games have been el-crapio. through the hazy eyes of nostalgia i remember it as being outstanding so it saddens me to see him go down the tube so easily.. those who have voted for sonic are clearly still stuck in their 1993 glory years.

anyway, who needs mario or sonic when you have ZELDA!

sonic stopped being interesting after the the first Sonic Adventure. the only recent sonic games that have been any good are the collections of his old games.

Mario still kicks ass in almost every game he's in (except DDR: Mario Mix). Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario, Mario Kart DS. you CANNOT name any games better than these, unless you lie.

if you factor in the games with the Mode 7 graphics chip embedded in them, it just blew the genisis away.

P.S. I have both systems. I took better care of my genisis, because I bought it, in part, with my own money. The genisis crapped out on me about two years ago, while my SNES, with it's broken eject button, still works. I was playing Final Fantasy 3 and Super Bomberman 2 just yesterday.

I have a mega drive, mega drive 2 (mega drive = euro genesis) and nomad (portable genesis) and own three snesseses. I didn't get my first snes 'till under a year ago though so I'm far more attached to the genesis (which I've owned for way longer).

Genesis was capable of some stunning graphics but the hardware wasn't used as well as the snes hardware was.

Sonic 3d had full motion video! :eek:

several games that came out at that time have full motion video. remember that craze? almost every game that came out between 1994 and 1996 had at least some FMV in it, and many games were made to be ONLY fmv. most of these games were bad, too.
