I should not like this, but I heard it on a late night drive home, and since had to track it down. A number of people claim to like pop music. I hope they like this, it's the best pop song I've heard in a long time. I predict a global phenomenon.

ps: download it yourselves.

Norwegian singer/songwriter Annie (Anne Lilia Berge Strand) makes her full-length debut with what must surely be the year's sunniest album. Not since the days of The Tom Tom Club, Bananarama, and "Lucky Star"-era Madonna, has dance-pop been this fun, this bouncy, this unabashedly optimistic (1999 single "Greatest Hit" even samples the latter's "Everybody"). So don't say you haven't been warned: Anniemal is a pretension-free zone. With its "Oh no, oh no / You've got it all wrong / You think you're chocolate / But you're chewing gum" refrain, 2004's insanely addictive single "Chewing Gum" is the jewel in this sparkling crown. The R2D2-like bloops and bleeps and Annie's sweet "ah-ah-ahs" and "la-la-las" just make it shine all the brighter. Hippie-disco extravaganza "Come Together," which tops the seven-minute mark, is another standout, while the sentimental "My Best Friend" is, arguably, the only clunker on one of 2005's most notable releases. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

It's very Tom Tom Club, the song in question.

She's very pretty. That gum song is bonkers. I've listenend to it 20 times in a row. I'm going mental from it. It's like teletubbies for my ears.

She produces her own stuff, and DJ's too right?

i think she does a little production, but most of it is other people. 'chewing gum' was produced by ex-mashup master & popbitch richard x. 'greatest hit' was produced by erot, who is sadly no longer with us. one of the guys from royksopp did a couple of tracks on her album.

Richard X? Who did the sugababes 'Freak like Me'? No wonder I like this.

I'm losing my marbles. 30 times over I've listened to this now. I might nick the album.

She's a lot of fun. Try out "Anniemal" (that's her album). I think you'll enjoy it. :)

I still probably like heartbeats the best, then greatest hit second, then chewing gum third. Shes the first pure sugar pop artist I've liked in a long time. The album is just plain infectious.

Yeah, can't say I rate Heartbeats.

The video for chewing gum is on Youtube. The multiple buttock dancers add a new element to this song, especially after 200 listens.

It's a good song, cool lyrics too. Got some serious rotation around these parts a while ago.
