I'm stoked. Even with NBC's crappy ass coverage (why ESPN doesn't do the Olympics, I'll never know) and sponsorship galore, I still love the Olympics and will have my non athletic ass watching whenever I can.

ESPN doesn't show it because it's really not that interesting.

Listen Mr. Funny, ESPN makes a lot of boring things interesting. Take Poker for instance...

Not even ESPN can make hockey interesting. Not to mention the fact that ESPN just had the Winter X Games rendering it useless to own the rights to show the Olympics as well.

For people in UK - the winter olympics TV is so crap. There's loads of really interestin and exictin sports to watch but we only get brief highlights of stuff like ice hockey and they feature the stuff we are good at - so we get days of curling which is the most boring sport on earth and we might get some ice dancin and a bit of bobsleigh and thats yer lot.

well it starts 2nite... i don't like the winter olympics because all the hot guys are covered up in big, bulky sweaters... now the summer olympics rock!! especially when I see all those hot guys on the diving team... glistening in their tight little speedos, all wet and muscular...mmmmmm :p and the sports are cooler... cuz they're half naked!!

I - I... Love the O-lym-pics...lu, u,u,uv....u...u,u,u...u, uv !!

It makes me miss that last winter olympics that were in Salt Lake...that was fucking awesome. It was like SLC had an actual night life for once! I was a driver for MSNBC and I got to meet many of the athletes...and I got paid a shitload. Man, that ruled.

When I was a kid, sports shows were this: some statistics; the event; monotone, depressed, subdued narration; closing credits.

I'm thinking of The Wide World of Sports.

Now it's all about the background story. The events themselves are often not as interesting as the stories leading up to them and the hype surrounding the players.

I found myself understanding some of the jargon of snowboarding after I watched that docupiece on The Flying Tomato.

The only thing I care about is Canada's womens and mens hockey teams pummelling the Americans. As long as the American (hockey) athletes suffer, I am happy.

Not even ESPN can make hockey interesting.

That's because play-by-play announcers in the states are as interesting as a carton of rotten eggs.

I take it you've never heard Mike Lange. If he can't get me interested, no one can.

They are just around the corner. I'm stoked for watching U.S.A. beat up Canada in hockey. Is that cute Australian girl doing ski tricks again?

always been a fan of the olympics, especially in the winter since i can't really do any of the sports...

i am interested to watch the curling actually, because i learned how to play recently. so i'd like to watch and be able to understand how things are supposed to go instead of how i tried to make them happen.

always favored the speed skating though. saw there was a lovely young lady from around these parts on the team this year, so it piqued my interest early

I was a fan of the Olympics until we became hosts for this year.

I cannot even BELIEVE the amount of money being spent on advertising and infrastructure.

It makes my gut ache just thinking about where the $$ could have been better spent.

I am still excited for the outside world to have a sweet look @ how awesome Vancouver can be but its sort of an empty happiness.

I dunno...

Our mascots are pretty damn cute though:

But think of all the money it brings to Canada.

Just think of it.

All of it.
