I just got myself an organ-donation-passport.
Does anyone of you guys have one? And if so,
what are you willing to give and what do you
want to keep?

a passport?! incase your organs wanna take a holyday?
As I said, Germany is the land of bureaucracy. :)
You get this passport to write down, what organs you
want to donate in case you die and what you want to
take to keep. I don't want to donate my cornea and
my skin and I want to keep my brain.
But in Germany, if your family says they don't want to
donate the organs after you're dead, the doctors aren't
allowed to take them, even if you have this passport.

so its useless. but no one goes to germany to die, they go to scotland, the home of the "last holiday"
I would really like to go to scotland. But I'd also like to come back.
We'll see...
But it's not useless. C'mon, do you think your family would ignore
a wish like that?

mothers in times of distress can be irratic
Well, if it all goes right, you're not supposed to die before your
mother dies. I'm sorry, this is not meant to sound sarcastically...
But you're right. I'll have to talk to my parents, too – just in case.
My husband already knows.

I have an organ donor sticker on my drivers license. I am willing to give everything, I don't really care.

You are right. But I somehow can't stand the image of someone
scraping something out of my eyes or off my skin. And then it's
perhaps harder for the bereaveds if they have to see you like that.

I'll be dead anyway. Like I'll care.

I think they take your inner organs, actually. Thus, in your casket, you will be clothed and you cannot see the scar along your side that they made in order to get to your innards.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you don't get George Romeroed in the removal process.

I'm an organ donor, but I'm assuming anything'll just be used in biology classes as a cautionary tale.
...actually, my liver is supposedly in remarkable shape.
I'm from pioneer stock, by gum!
Maybe Keith Richards is my real dad.

I'm what the Nova Scotia Department of Health calls a 'Donor 1', meaning that any and all of my organs will go to whomever needs them, if they are valuable. I think that's the least I can do to help someone else when I die. I'm not gonna need them, so someone else can live by taking what they need.

I just got this brochure about organ-donation in Germany.
It says they'll take all of the transplantable organs like
liver, heart, lung, pancreas, kidneys, intestine and parts
of the cornea, skin, brain, veins, sinews and bones.
You can write down in your donation-passport, which
parts you are willing to give and exclude the others.
And they don't test your health as a donor, because
the status of your organs can change daily.
They also keep your body alive as long as possible after
brain death, to keep the organs "fresh". So it's not true
that a doctor will say something like: "Oh, a donor, stop
the lung ventilator!"
But that's what it's like here...

I've got both Irish and Swedish organ doner card. I got the Irish one when I dated Jim back in 89 (there's a date on the back) and they didn't have those cards here so I thought I better get one.
I just checked my purse and couldn't find my Swedish one, it was made of really thin cardboard so it was in a bad shape, the other card's plastic.
I'm letting all my organs to be used, but not for students to mess about with (I had a workmate who studied to be a surgeon and heard his stories........).
I want the rest of my body to be freezedried, I hope by the time I die it should be all fixed, it ain't really allowed here yet. Cause then the rest of me can be put in a mouldering container and used as a fertiliser, preferably for a Pyrus salicifolia. My body is not allowed to be cremated, cause cremation destroys so much of the ozone layer.
So this is my will and testament in case something happens....

They can have whatever of mine they want. I don't particularly care. It's just a body.

Some people are against it for religious reasons. When I die they can take waht they want. I won't need 'em.
