Been digging minor threat. Are dead kennedys a good band to move on to? Fugazi? I need some opinions here people!

They're alright. Not really into punk as much as I used to be. Fugazi are good too. Prefer Helmet over Fugazi, though.

'Fresh Fruit for the Rotting Vegetables' is one of my favourite album of all time. They kinda went downhill after that, but they got it perfect the first time.

Dead Kennedys are more interesting as a study of lyrical content than music, really. I mean, I love them to death, but in a sentimental way, because they were one of the first punk bands I really got into. And of course in those days they were still, you know, a band. But musically, there are much better bands.

There's part of Jello's No More Sharks in which he talks about people who ask him to name their bands, how they should, in theory, do it themselves, but here's a list anyway....

That's a hoot.

i really like the dead kennedys, if that's worth anything. i liked plastic surgery disasters, but yeah, fresh fruit is pretty much what you're going to want to start with.

The short answer is:

All of the above.

Fugazi, Dead Kennedys, Husker Du, Descendents are all fantastic!

minor threat kinda sucks, so does fugazi. The whole Ian Mckaye ballsqueezing thing, I never understood....they arent all that good.

dk is good though.

"give me convenience..." is also a good dk album to start with, it's a kind of "best of"
re dk's lyrics: they're really good. it's the way all political music should be; not whiny and complaining, but ironic, sarcastic and clever.

Jello seems to be kind of making a name for himself on hippity hop albums as of late.

I agree with the mentions of "Give me convenience..." I love that album. Make sure to get Jello Biafra and the DOA, then check out Black Flag, Yuppicide, Negative Approach, Flag of Democracy and Manliftingbanner!
