Is there a forum I missed about making a clean collection of BB tunes for children?

I have two awesome nephews, ages 8 and 10, and they like rap, but too much of it is too violent or too ill or too angry. Or it has too many curse words for someone their age. So for example, the majority of Eminem gets filtered out by their Mom, my awesome sister.

So I'm trying to work on making a Best of Beastie Boys collection for young children. And the Beasties are smart because they aren't about violence, but they do cuss a bit.

I would just like to see some suggestions. I thrived on the Beastie Boys while working on my degree in college, and I truly believe their genius motivated me through the tough classes, as well as fellow students in physics, chemistry, etc. I'm not a psychologist but I think there is something about music like the Beastie Boys have done that can inspire a young mind. And so I want my nephews (or ALL children) to have the same benefit from the genius that I think the Beastie Boys can inspire.

But for example, a song like "She's On It" wouldn't be good for them. Nice guitar work though

Yeah, I know they have clean versions, but I'm specifically trying to think of BB songs with lyrics OR way cool sounds that would intrigue a young child. See what I'm saying? It may have to be a weekend project, but I'd like to compile a CD of BB songs that somehow can inspire young minds.

I mean, if you wanted to help grow the mind of a child, would you rather him or her hear a song with "I'm a cop killer, I shoot 'em with my 44" .... or would you rather them hear a lyric like "Be true to yourself and you will never fall" ?

:)

I like to think I'm a good uncle and I truly believe music plays a big role in molding minds.... either good, or bad. But good beats bad. (y)

It is a fact that Warner Brothers, owner of trademarks pertaining to the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, lists our manager's crazy he always smokes dust as the Road Runner's original catch phrase.

When my nephew was about five, he quite liked to wander around the house pretending he was a robot singing "intergalactic planetary planetary intergalactic". Can't think where he might have learned that :p

He had quite a funny little dance he liked to do to "Body Movin'" as well. Sort of a cross between an epileptic siezure and the electric slide. "Shadrach" would usually get him going too.

Daffy Ducks catchphrase used to be MCA's in the back cos hes skeezing with a BEEP but it was taken over by Yosemite Sam who replaced it with a trademark moustache.

when hello nasty came out i was like 11, that album definitely inspired my young mind -- got me listening to so many different different styles. i remember reading the notes that came with the anthology too, i wanted to get my hands on everything they referenced.

Also: Stand Together, with that squawky chicken sax. Kids dig that kind of thing. Plus it's a really positive song, not much in there for your sis to object to.
