No way did Jayawardene catch that. Pnting was right not to walk. Any batsmen has the right to stay until given out. They only have to walk if it is blatantly bloody obvious.

My mother in law also tells me that he is very nice in person. His daughters play netball in the same competition that she coaches a team in in Wollongong and, by all reports, is completely patient and willing to talk to anyone about cricket, especially children, and sign as many autographs as he needs to. So he may well be a cranky bugger onfield, but off-field a gentleman apparently.

Plus, he's a kick-arse batsmen.

please...correct me if i'm wrong, but hasn't ponting stated in the past that he thinks a batsman should walk if a fielder claims a catch?
which would make him somewhat hypocritical, i would think.
i'm more certain about gilchrist being a hypocrite though.
a few years back he got on his high horse and called craig mcmillan out for not walking when mcmillan was most likely out.
he subsequently stood his ground and refused to walk in an analogous situation.

anyway...i kinda like ponting, i remember him killing it when he played for australia A in the world series, against the top aussie team.

He got the hump because he got ran out by a sub fielder and kicked off cos we had chosen subs who were good fielders. I think they have used the same tactic recently though.
