View Full Version : Oh, That Kanye West!

So Kanye West has just come out with another hilarious statement. It doesn't come close to matching "George Bush doesn't care about black people." in the comedy department, but it's still pretty funny.
COCKY WEST: 'I SHOULD BE IN THE BIBLE'
Cocky rap star KANYE WEST is calling for a revised edition of THE BIBLE, because he thinks he should be a character in it.
The JESUS WALKS hitmaker, who picked up three Grammy Awards last night (08FEB06), feels sure he'd be "a griot" (West African storyteller) in a modern Bible.
He says, "I bring up historical subjects in a way that makes kids want to learn about them. I'm an inspirational speaker.
"I changed the sound of music more than one time... For all those reasons, I'd be a part of the Bible. I'm definitely in the history books already."

But the real question is:
Is Kanye West bigger than Jesus?
Well Jesus was 6'4"... how tall is the arrogant West?

I have to mention that I first found this story on another message board I go to. The dude who posted it hates rap, and before he posted the story, he wrote, "Kanye West is considered 'The Sane Rapper' right?"
"The Sane Rapper"? What the hell? Since when is Kanye West called "The Sane Rapper"?

Wait, so George Bush does care about black people? I think what he meant is that Bush doesn't care about poor people, just in this case most of them were black, woops.
You'd make a great editor for some tabloid though, I must say that. Give some misconstrued pitch to a story.

I need that drug dealin', bank robber shit you know lol
So I take it you're not a big fan of the Carpenters? ;)
Speaking of banks: their big song (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6659218&style=music&cart=309520949&BAB=E) "We've Only Just Begun" was originally written for a commercial for a bank (IIRC it featured a newly-married couple). Richard Carpenter heard it on TV, acquired the licensing for the song & reworked it a bit, and ta da! a classic was born.

How do you guys watch these videos? MTV or VH1 (the only music channels I have) only show music videos at around 2 or 3 in the morning. Last week I finally got to see a video by the Gorillaz on VH1 - very artsy (y) and the music, though I can't describe it, was very good too.

Yahoo! Music has a lot of videos, for starters...

Kanye West aint shit. If he didn't chat so much bull then he would be a decent artist. But the amount of rubbish that comes out of his mouth more than overshadows his skills.
What a dick.

This lyric has been bothering me for days.
After watching some Lupin the 3rd episodes on Adult Swim, after many late nights ;) . It kept going around in my head, where did I hear reference to Lupin the 3rd...
"Kanye West (feat. Lupe Fiasco) - The line "Yes, yes, yes guess who's on third?/Lupe steal like Lupin the Third" from the single "Touch the Sky" makes reference to Lupin III."
Wikipedia kicks ass. Just felt like sharing.
Not everyone is going to appreciate well made music, I don't expect anything different from the likes of slimm.
Also I don't see the problem. So he is saying he is actually doing something, making a change, informing people. Ah but when people use their power and fame to rap about drugs and how badass they are to sell games to suburban kids. Oh that's fine. Oh here is someone who is making great music being original, saying shit others only think. And is confident for it, please. He'll grow out of it, he makes you feel like less of a person? That's because you are. He' just being a bit cocky by stating it out loud.

Rapper/Producer Kanye West and DJ Clinton Sparks have teamed up for a project entitled Touch the Sky. The collaboration comes as a prelude to Clinton Sparks’ first retail CD, Get Familiar Vol 1, which is due for a 2006 release.
Kanye West, inspired by the consistent drive of the Shady Records DJ, set out to team up with him: Clinton Sparks has been fine tuning his production skills over the last few years through his vast catalogue of mixtapes. The dedication has paid off and now he is set to blow with this new and entirely self-produced album.
As well as hosting the CD, you can expect six new tracks from Kanye West. Other guest stars to appear on the CD include Nas, Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Freeway, Nore, Mike Jones, Diddy, Dipset, D. Block & Slim Thug.
Remy Ma, Q-Tip, Peedi Crack and Young Cris will also have their exclusive freestyles included on the album, recorded for Sparks during his popular Smashtime radio segment.
Kanye West and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reportedly recorded a song earlier this week that may appear on the rapper’s upcoming third album, Graduation.
According to Virgin’s Newswire, the pair laid down the track at London's Abbey Road Studios while Kanye was in town working on the theme song to Mission Impossible 3. The two artists reportedly set up a playdate after West took in the band’s show.
"Kanye didn't mind [his studio session] being interrupted and after Coldplay's show, Chris joined him in the recording booth for a jamming session," a source told Virgin's Newswire. "They did a track together which sounded amazing. Fingers crossed it will see the light of day."
Meanwhile, Us Weekly is reporting that Kanye and his “Gold Digger” partner Jamie Foxx got into a disagreement at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party over how to perform the song that night in front of industry folk.
"Kanye didn't agree with Jamie on how he wanted to do it,” a witness told the magazine. "Kanye walked out of the party, but returned after 15 minutes, out of respect for Clive."
The duo ended up performing together at the party. Afterwards, Foxx was seen hugging rappers Snoop Dogg and Ludacris, who also performed with him that night, but noticeably snubbed West, who walked off the stage and out of the Beverly Hills venue.
As the world witnessed, Foxx and West teamed up again the next night for a memorable performance of the song on the Grammys. Both were dressed as marching band leaders joined by the Florida A&M University marching band.
According to Kanye, expect Graduation to drop in December.

I can't wait to hear the Ye/Chris Martin track, should be cool. I think it takes balls for an MC in this current stage of hip hop to make a song with a Chris Martin, or an Adam Levine, or a John Mayer...

Fair enough Slimm is being a bit of a penis about it but I really don't see it. Sure he can MC, but most rappers can. And it's not cos he aint gangsta, I hate Fiddy and love groups like De La, Run DMC, and ATCQ. It's just he doesn't have much of a strong personality. To me, anyway. He's just... boring. And he thinks he's much better than he is, which makes him even more of a bellend.

One thing above all that angers me about Late Registration is for some reason is that Common appears on a track all by himself. Just irritates the hell out of me.

i find it funny that people have so much hatred for kanye as a person, i think it's obvious its all part of the show when he "talks his shit again".
if you ever read proper interviews with him, he gives props to everyone else, always points out how other people are doing stuff better than him. shit, he even called eminem one of his favourite producers.
ASsman
02-19-2006, 10:43 AM
As for his music, he's not really doing anything NEW so to speak. That whole "sped-up funk samples" he does, RZA was doing that shit 10 years ago.
Is that why their production sounds so alike? Huh.
