I feel like such a bum. I am going to have to find a new home for 2 of my pets and its breaking my heart. When I was with my fiance we adopted 4 pets from the local animal shelter. It was over the course of a couple of years and it was manageable because there were 2 of us. We could afford a bigger apartment and we shared in the cleaning and care.
About a year ago we broke up and I kept all 4 of the pets. I realized last night that I can't care for all four of them anymore by myself and I just feel like an asshole. When I adopted them I promised them stability, comfort, and love for the rest of their lives and now I am going to have to break that promise.
I volunteer at the local animal shelter, in fact I head up the team that cares for all non dog and cat critters, and I just feel so guilty for contributing to the problem. I hate feeling like one of the irresponsible pet owners we see every day who surrender their pets for some arbitrary reason.
And its not just that, I love them all so much. I'm going to miss them like crazy.
I wish I knew someone who was interested in adopting them. Or even if I could find someone to keep them for me for awhile I would even pay bunny support.

If you were anywhere near me, Jenn would take them, but alas I'm thousands of miles away. And she has enough animals right now (dog, cat, four guinea pigs, two chickens).

recognizing that you can't give an animal the care it needs and finding a new home that can care for it is NOT irresponsible. It is in fact the MOST responsible thing you can do for that pet.
it's the people who refuse to recognize that thier pet needs more care, and continue to neglect it, who are the ones who are truly irresponsible.
you're doing the right thing. and you'll do everything in your power to make sure they get good homes.

....what area do you live in?
When I had to give up my bird, I put him on Craigslist and had a taker within a couple hours, if I remember right. Turned out to be a better home than I was providing, too -- Wasabi has a mate and several babies now. (y)

Kll, they are rabbits.
I have thought about craigslist. I mean, I have control over where they go so I will probably put an ad up there. I don't know how long it will take to find them a place that way. I need to get some good pictures of them.
a-z I live in Seattle.
I hope to god I can find a special home for them. I've put out feelers to others in the rabbit community and we'll see what they say. I think they both might be candidates for sanctuary care.

^ sounds like you've got all the right conections to other rabbit lovers like yourself, so I'm confident you'll come up with a great solution for them.
I know how difficult this decision is to make and that it won't be easy to say good-bye. I've been through it. :( But once you've fond a good spot for them you'll feel better knowing the bun buns are happy.

Wayne from Flaming Lips made a bulletin on My Space about some stray dog puppies he and his wife had taken under their wings and they needed homes. It didn't take many hours that all the puppies had found new homes. But have to mention that Flaming Lips have 33736 friends to send the bulletin to...
