After emailing this (http://thunderballdc.com/) band* some questions, one of the members replied & one of the things he mentioned was that he had seen The Orb live and it was a cool experience.

I checked out the samples at cduniverse for the album with the highest rating, The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1231834&style=music&cart=309520949&BAB=E), and it seems interesting but I've been burned on albums before by listening to those short little pieces of songs......but when I got home after buying it and was able to hear the entire album - bleh.

Any advice?

FYI: if it helps any, among others I own albums by the Art Of Noise, Kruder & Dorfmeister, two Madonna albums  Pink Floyd, Koop, Yes, Brian Eno, Crystal Method, and Stereolab.

* Scorpio Rising was my favorite album I bought that year

my brother is a huge fan, and for my birthday bought me

U.F. Off, The Best of The Orb (2cd)

i haven't heard any of the albums separately, but that one is pretty awesome imo.

You need to buy UFOrb - , Adventures is a great album but UForb is a more complete work, I bought it when it came out like 12 years ago maybe more and it still surprises me - then listen to adventures.. and then try and get hold of the Aubrey mixes of ultraworld (Its rare though). DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY POMME FRITEZ - Its terrible. 1 hour of nothing!

Well, I just came home from the music store.......with Weezer's blue album!!

I had to buy some new sunglasses, not for fashion sake but because I HAD to (my eyes are sensitive to the sun & wearing contacts makes that condition even more pronounced) and only had enough money left over for an older CD. This local chain has a bunch of new CDs priced at 8.99 or less, so after pausing over a Parliament best of CD, grabbed the Weezer album. They also had Stereolab's Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements for a dollar more, but I've never owned any of Weezer's music (I already own 1 Stereolab album*, good stuff) so decided on the "blue" one. Damn, the copyright says 1994 - I swear it seems that album just came out a few years ago!!

Thanks for the help anyway. (y)

* Dots & Loops. Very organic electronica/loungey stuff. Transient... (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1095744&style=music&cart=310807115&BAB=E) sounds very different though: a harder sound with a lot more guitars
