If you aren't familiar with any of his work, you should change that.

Listen, you've probably heard his stuff.

He produced the David McCallum track('The Edge') that became the sample source for Dre's 'Next Episode'. Everything from the intro to the plucking guitar. All lifted from the same composition. Dre basically added a drum track and moved things around a bit.

Ghostface's 'Stay True' is more or less a straight loop from his song 'Terri's Tune'.

He's done great work with Cannonball Adderly, as well. I'm not crazy about the Lou Rawls stuff, though.

Download 'Holy Thursday' by him or 'Holy Are You' by The Electric Prunes for a good example of his genius.

Diamond D LOVES axelrod, i've read in interviews he will do anything for the man, purely on the basis of him not trying to rape him over sample clearances.

And yes roosta you're right, shadow sampled the human abstract on Midnight, very nice track

Yeah, and Diamond sampled 'The Mental Traveler' for Ras Kass' 'Soul On Ice' Remix, which is probably one of his best beats.

So it's done. I bought The Edge (Capitol Records 1966-1970). Very impressed. Surprised at how much of it I'd heard before.(y)
