View Full Version : i need a new deodorant
i'v been using axe for a while now, but i've recently decided that i hate it, it kind of stinks. it doesn't last very long, so i end up with BO by the end of the day, but while it does last, it's way too strong.
what do you people use? i started using mitchum unscented today, i kind of like it. according to the tagline it's "so strong you could skip a day". sounds like bettin' words to me. since it's unscented, i used a little cologne (just one squirt) too, i kind of like it, but i dunno if wanna be one of those cologne guys.
i'm open to suggestions, basically

I use speed stick. You know, the gel kind with the little micro beads. It has a fresh smell to it and it works for at least 13 hours.
Old spice red zone is good too.

i need a new drug. one that wont make me stink :D
sorry couldnt help myself. you know bob i have never smelled you so i have nothing to say.
except that there is nothing better than being around a man that smells good.

yeah, that's pretty much why i'm asking. i daresay i smell pretty good right now, i used the acqua di gio cologne, or however the hell it's spelled. we had a cologne thread quite some time ago, apparently it's very common. i also have chrome, which is also quite common. and fruity.
while i'm asking about deodorants i may as well ask about colognes, too. i want something that smells good, but unique. i want a scent that makes people go, "hey, it smells like bob in here", but not in the way that they currently do. i don't want anything overpowering mind you, just something mild and pleasant. and also something that's cheap. where the hell do you buy cologne anyway? i've only ever got it as a gift.
also i'm going to buy 15 boxes of old spice based on ericlee's recommendation just because his advice is so sound that i'm not even going to try it out before i buy it i'm just going to trust him because he rules so much
edit: i mean speed stick

yeah, I'm the one who started the cologne thread but I aint gonna tell you my resources since you didn't acknowledge my ever so strong advice I've given for the deodarant reference.
I rotate between axe, mitchum, speed stick, right gaurd, brut, and degree. My pits build up a tolerance so I can't use the same one for more than 2 weeks, so I start to rotate, and then go back to them. I don't have all of them at once....but 2 or 3 of them. I go with the anti perspirant and deodorant. its key.

i dont really like cologne and perfume and such stuff. but i did date a guy in high school for a short time that wore something that was incredible. i loved it. never found out the name but all men should wear it. it was in a green bottle on his dresser. had a gold cap. "shurgs" thats all i know.

the last thing this world needs is more people wearing patchouli.
"Kiss My Face" Peaceful Patchulli(sp) That works extremely well.
Dude...i tried using their face soap they have...and it smells like olives. I thought, cool...I like olives, and this shit is supposed to be on the one and shit. So all day all I do is smell olives...plus it makes my schnozz oily. Fuck that shit. Fuck it in its bloody asshole.

sounds kinda gay but hey, it's me. is anyone else familiar with it? do you like it? or is cosmo just a crazy vegan?
i've used Old Spice Red Zone for a while, now, and just found out at Christmas time from my cousin (who's a chemist starting his masters) that
Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex is in it, which has been linked to alzheimer's. i'm gonna start looking for a new anti-persperant after this last stick. it sucks, cause i've been using that damn stuff for over six years...

Deodarant of Anti-Perpirant?
I use and anti-perpirant and Axe Vodoo. I smell like it all day long, you just need to be closer as the day progresses.

aluminum's in every regular deodorant/antiperspirant. natural ones (except tom's of maine, they make one that's buffered) don't have that.
ericlee
02-15-2006, 04:42 PM
Did they mention how much you have to use of for Alzhiemers to take place? It's probably extensive use for 60 years before any type of noticable effect happens.

aluminum-based deodorants/antiperspirants get a really bad rap all across the board. i don't know the exact stats, but i know that it's supposedly really really horrid for you no matter what. i still use it, though. natural ones just don't work for me :\

I was staying verticle wid it.

Hahahahah, good work.
Axe Body Wash works great too. Too bad they dont make it in Vodoo else I'd be all over that. Switched over to the new "Revitalizing" shit to mix it up and not overwhelm with a single scent.

yeah, that's why I try to use clear nowadays. Especially if I wear black shirts and prolonged use of the "powder" stick kind leaves a caking on the armpits and it doesn't matter how many times I've washed my shirts. I'd have to throw them away after 2 or 3 months.

OK Bob, maybe you don't want to follow my advice on the Speed stick. I'm on my 11th hour and still at work and now my pits are starting to smell and I've got drips.. It might be because of my attire since I'm wearing a black cotton sweater. I don't want to be misleading you for you need something that can withstand any attire.
Damn this has been a long day, I just want to get off work and go home. I'm starting to go in depth on a deodorant thread.

I used to be allergic to a lot of deordorants... I guess the combination of sweat and chemicals made my armpits break out in a bad rash and they would swell up... I've been using degree, but this shit doesn't work for me either... guess I've gotten immuned...
they can send a man to the moon, but those genusis can't make a decent stick of deordorant???

i used the acqua di gio cologne, or however the hell it's spelled.
Splendid scent. The more recent Swiss Army colognes are pretty good too. A little stronger than di gio...but not as refined a smell as the former.
As for the underarm deodorant my vote would be for Old Spice even though I can't even use it myself because I get rashes I sweat profusely (sports, interviews, warm weather and so on) It's always been that way for some reason and I die inside every time I come to that realization.
my 'pits can't handle it

Ok Bob, your'e one of the few bastards I enjoy on here so I'll give ya my point of view on some frags. (and not grenades).
My very most favorite is Zara. I haven't seen any stores since I've been in the states but it's a clothing company that sells their own line of clothes, perfumes, colognes and such.
They've got eveything from cologne, body wash (which is also used as shampoo in the process), deodorant (which I don't use since I'm a sweaty bastard that needs anti persperant/deodorant) and aftershave. No comments on the aftershave though cause I only get a few stray hairs here and there and use the aftershave to just..
Anyway, that's my favorite. It has such a different smell that I can't explain what is is yet. I'm tryin to think of fruits but I can't tell which makes me like it more.
Ok, next, I've got Blvgari. Don't try to pronounce the "v" when you say it or else you'd have drunken Ohioans making fun of you haha.
I suppose there's no real scheme to it because it's not called Blvgari= fngus butt or anything but it's got a fresh clean smell.
I've got a few things from Ralph Lauren which are nice to the nostrils as well.
You won't see me wear his clothing but I'll wear the cologne......
Romance... which is one of my favorites, fuck the original
Sport... ah so so
and Original.. It's to me, like the preppy version of petchulli.
Adidas, bless them by any means that they use "sport" in anything they make, they actually make some decent colognes..
Oh yeah, CK is good to but I don't want anybodies name on my behind.. Obsession? Have you smelled Old Spice?
I think Ck stole that idea and it's about 50 bucks more for that same aroma

yo fool u sound like u need anti-perspirant not deodorant, and axe isnt either of those.
Try Calvin Klein - Eternity Deodorant. It does cost like US$17 but its way better than axe (fuckin not even the same league) and 1 stick lasts for months. Try a good Cologne / Deodorant Package. I got Polo Black with Deodorant and body wash, man I smell so damn good all day... Or Tommy or anything NOT FROM A GROCERY STORE. Axe=joke. I like some of it but it lasts less than 5 minutes.
