If it's the first album of theirs you're buying, I would say either Hello Nasty or Check Your Head. They're not as good as LTI or PB, but they serve as a good introduction to the versatility of styles prominent on all of the BB LPs. (y)

i recommend
SOUND OF SCIENCE ANTHOLOGY

but when i first got Licensed to ill it was so ill
i loved it so much :D

but depends on what type of music you like and you want best for last or best for first

back in LTI its like violence and party
then it was paul boutiques more about girls
then it was ill communications or was it check your head
ill was like sure shot and check your head was like back in tibeian
mca and dali lamai
then it was intrumentals and then it is hello nasty
Intergalactic a crazy hit actually i cant remeber which song i first heard the beastie boys
was it fight for your right on the radio or was it body movin plus intergalactic on video lol
cause i was born in 88 and i started listen to it like when i was ten years old which was like 1998 lol damn

then iits the new thing like 3 or 4 years right then is was check your head but why did they say in the triple trouble movie they said it was like 6 years
later???

Buy them in the order they came out, so it'd be like you went through the experience and see how they've changed and stuff. Did that make sense?

Yeah if I could go back again, that's what I would've done. But instead I bought them like this: To The Five Boroughs, Licensed To Ill, Hello Nasty, Ill Communication, Paul's Boutique, then Check Your Head. So I was pretty confused when I heard the last two because I wasn't expecting it you know? It took some getting used to but I'm really glad I did. :D

Did you read what I said? I don't care if you know every single one of their songs off by heart, the albums still present them in a very good order and variety of styles which helps give the feeling of the CD being a whole piece of work rather than a collection of songs. And the best ones for that are CYH and HN.

Hello Nasty or Check Your Head. They're not as good as LTI you think so? interesting.

Lex Diamonds
02-17-2006, 05:31 AM
you think so? interesting.
Yeah I do. LTI is easily as good as Raising Hell (seeing as it was put together by nearly all of the same people- Paul Revere was written and produced by Run) and had just as large an effect on hip-hop. At the time when it was released it was like the best thing anyone had ever heard, and it's still pretty damn awesome now. There isn't a weak track on it, and although HN and CYH are sick albums and a great showcase for the BBoys' versatility and credibility as real musicians, for me LTI just overtakes them due to the freshness of the rhymes and the BBoys' cheeky NYC party people attitude. (y)

But obviously, Paul's Boutique is the best.

i can never say what's best, cause i'll change my mind when i go through a different phase.

LTI is sick, i love the old school simplicity of it most. but i think HN is more powerful and creative music wise

it sucks cuz all of my other friends only experienced a "Beastie Boy Era"
which was "to the 5 boroughs" (which ain't exactly their best)and since we were all only 6 years old when Hello Nasty came out the b-boys were new to us . nobody had ever heard of them before and were like oh yeah i think those are the guys who did brass monkey. So they weren't at all impressed with the beastie boys & they all say they suck(which pisses me off  ) it sucks that they couldn't experience the other eras that were awesome :( my friends are deprived of of sum kick ass music :(

i dont think that listening to , or buying them in order would matter at all. hello nasty and TT5B could have just as easily been LTI and PB, and dont forget that they dont play instruments inbetween PS and CYH.

TO THE original poster:

just get Solid gold hits, or the anthology.

 pauls' boutique... do yourself a favor homeskooled & get it on record. buy a nice turntable to listen to it through. then go & pick up a $120.00 + needle. then when it gets to the part of the first TRACK where there's that classic sound that helped cement that albums' place in history as one of the most enduring ahead of it's time albums... stop the record (with your hand as the platter still spins below, slipmat intact ) that's when you got the groove. & i mean quite literally. then start scratchin terror into that vinyl. don't hold back, it feels good you'll see. have so much fun scratching on it that you ruin it & have to go buy another copy... haha... just playin-kinda. but frillz kid you'll know what i mean. peace
