So Im watching original Amnitville Horror and it is massively better than the remake which pretty much sucked.
So are remakes ever better than the original? Give examples you losers.

i have yet to see a remake which is better, but the two remakes which i felt were good films in their own rights were "the texas chainsaw massacre" and "assault on precint 13", although "chainsaw" in particular, was not a patch on the original, i still enjoyed it.
im refusing to see "the fog" or the upcoming "warriors" remake on principal.

I thought Assault on p13 pretty much sucked and not yet seen either chainsaw massacre.
I guess you are only going to remake good films and as making a good film is hard its unlikely to improve on it.
I wish people would remake films which were good ideas but ended up being poor. The Cube springs to mind - great idea for a film but was pretty bad in the end.

I liked Spider-man 2 better than the first one.
Then again, I like the first Batman with Michael Keaton better than anything that followed..

I hate when hollywood fucks with a classic... example, like when speilberg changed...I should say fucked with ET when he digitally took out the FBI's guns and replaced them with walkie talkies... what the fuck!!
I know movies like king kong and godzilla had shitty effects but that shit was pretty dope considering they were made over 50 yrs ago...
remakes suck, totally!!
you people need to be original nowadays... damn!

But potentially remakes could be good things. For example, the film'The Cube' was IMO a great idea that was badly made - problem is that films that sucked the first time but had potential are rarely remade - but these are the ones which should be remade.
In music, mediocre songs are often remixed to become good - why not with movies.
So what movies do you think should be remade because the first time they were a good idea that was badly executed?

I think if they sucked the first time it shouldn't even be attempted to be remade... once a classic always a classic... once a flop always a flop... you really want to to see GILI redone??
I can't recall a musician taking a bad song to make it good... usually they take classic hits and renew em... and if they do take a shitty song and sample it... I bet you can barely hear it on the song

I disagree, I think there are many films which seem to be promising ideas but ended up being poorly made (the cube example) - also with music look at the fat boy slim remix of body moving - the original didnt suck but I think its pretty well agreed that FBS made it better

the magnificent seven was a pretty cool remake but not as good as the original. that's really the only one i can think of right now that comes close.

That's a very good question. I think there are some songs that could qualify - I prefer the film (Elton John) version of Pinball wizard to the Tommy album version, for example, ditto for "I'm free."
And the Byrds versions of Dylan songs are better IMO.
Not sure what I think of some of Cake's covers of "I will survive" etc... THey're tolerable, and I am so violently sick of Gloria Gaynor's version.

Gone in sixty seconds. Yeah the chase scene was great, 40 mins long but damn. all that for a damn fastback mustang?
The remake has alot more worthwhile cars for the grabbing. It was just a better movie in general.

Yea that was a bunch of bullshit changing E.T.Any of these remakes dont hold a candle to the originals.BTW the E.T. ride at Universal is totally cool!Plus they have Breakdancers every hour on the hour towards the front of the park by Shrek and RugRats.

No it wasn't. The only remotely cool thing about it was the opening. After that it was a suckfest. Matt's right. You've clearly never seen a good movie if you liked that pile of shit.

Hahahaha. You do know that's how Danny got banned, right? He did that and spammed QDrop's posts with smilies, which is why we can only use a maximum of five now. Though why anyone would use that many I don't want to know.
