I just wanted to let you all know about a book that's coming out in mid-March, it's about Paul's Boutique and it's part of Continuum's (http://www.continuumbooks.com/(qdbros55fhroas55gowb1jfm)/ContinuumHome.aspx) 33 1/3 Series (http://33third.blogspot.com/) (there's over thirty of them now, and each book is about an album and by a music critic or musician - they're a lot of fun) and it's by Dan LeRoy, who interviewed everyone involved with the making of this legendary album, including Mike Dike, the Dust Brothers, Ricky Powell (the book features some exclusive Ricky Powell pics) and many more.

You can pre-order it here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0826417418/sr=8-14/qid=1140555593/ref=sr_1_14/002-4268503-6712003?%5Fencoding=UTF8), and read some excerpts that didn't make it into the book (there was so much amazing material we just couldn't fit it all in!) here (http://beastiemania.com/misc/3313.php).

Also, if any of you are journalists who are interested in reviewing the book, you can contact me (Wendy AT continuum-books DOT com) to request a review copy.

I hope you'll check it out, it's a great book and we're very proud to publish it.

Hi, Mr Continuum, I was wondering, is this book coming out in Australia? Or just the US? I'm going to OZ for 5 months and will be gutted if I miss this book AND the Beastie Boys film due to my trip!

Yes...I agree.

I think this going to be a good one. I've been disappointed with most of the books out there.

I just read in the recent Spin the article on LTI 20th, with excerpt from Skills to pay the bills by Alan... you own that right? I was very impressed, alot of new info I never knew.

The Skills book by Alan is OK. It pretty much just a bunch of quotes from over the years.

I'm looking forward to the PB book because it looks like some cool stories.

It does have a lot of great stories. I've read The Skills to Pay the Bills and it was okay, but yeah, it's mostly just quotes. In the 33 1/3 book the narrative is much stronger and that enhances the already hilarious stories. I mean, obviously the BBs have always been interesting, but the period leading up to Paul's Boutique is especially chock full of outrageous behavior and crazy pranks. I laughed out loud more than once.

And yes, the book will be available in Australia, although you might be best served by ordering on-line.

Did the beasties get involved with this book?

Where do the stories come from and are they accurate? Are they from known sources?

If the Beasties are/or not involved in this book in anyway, who is involved? I assume Ricky Powell is but is that only from photos?

thanks in advance

Gosh, I devoted an entire Sunday for this book a few weeks back and found the quote format so hard to follow. Am I just lacking reading comprehension skillz or what? I mean, it certainly provides some nice viewpoints from those who were there, but I wished the information was assembled differently.

I've read Continuum's book on Endtroducing and it was brilliant, only complaint is that it was too short :( Nevertheless I'm very excited about this book.

I would like to read those books especially Dan Leroy's but chances are small.

When you read it guys you have to post your reviews.

Yeah, the stories are accurate. And yes, the book is filled with quotes from interviews Dan LeRoy did with "known sources", people like Mike D, Sean "the Captain" Carasov, Matt Dike, Mike Simpson and John King (the Dust Brothers) and a lot more.

Oops, I just wanted to point out that I made a mistake in my original posting. It should be Matt Dike, not Mike Dike. Sorry!
