Theres a few different bands I get mixed up. For instance, kaiser chiefs and maximo park. I know they dont sound the same, but i always call kaiser chiefs maximo park and visa versa. Then theres DFA and DFA 1979. Now this only gets more confusing when you get an indie dance compilation with a DFA 1979 remix, and song remixed by DFA, and a song remixed by DFA 1979. I mean for christs sake.

Are there any bands that you always confuse with each other, for instance calling a band by another bands name unintentionally?

there was a lawsuit that DFA levied aganst DFA 1979 when they were still called Death From Above. they added the 1979 as a result of the lawsuit, I think.

^Yeah but do you actually call creed nickelback and visa versa. I mean creed sounds the same as nickelback, but creed is like jesus rock and shit.

There was a point where I mistook T. Rex and Dinosaur Jr. for each other.

Of course they don't sound alike, but dammit, I couldn't keep those dinosaurs straight! ;)

My dad is actually pretty notorious for getting the names of bands wrong. Whether it be unintentional or intentional (in that case, he's trying to be funny).

For example, he couldn't get Social Distortion right. He'd say Social Confusion, Broken Distortion and all sorts of weird variations of the name. It finally got to the point where he called them Broken Social Scene and he didn't even realize that there's an actual band called them.

I used to confuse Jurassic 5 and Dinosaur Jr., so you're not alone, DS.

That is so true!

My ex played in a band called Korova Milkbar and once they were gonna tour UK only to find out there was a band called that.
And there was several bands called Dog Eat Dog, I think the Finnish one was first, but as they weren't gonna be world famous nothing happened. Then there was two in the States, but the more well-known got the others, amicably, to change their name to Dog Eat Dogma. John once said he wished he'd think of it first!

Oh yeah, I remembered another one...

When I was little, I would always mix up Neil Young and Neil Diamond for each other. I know this piece of news will outrage the likes of Documad, but hey, I couldn't keep my Neil's straight. :o

Oh yeah, I also had confusion with Van Morrison and Jim Morrison (again, I was trying to figure out which Morrison was in The Doors and and which sung about a Brown-Eyed Girl).

And I'd mix up The Who and The Guess Who.

I guess these are understandable when you're a beginner...

Gender confusion -

When I was little, I thought that Michael Jackson was a woman, and that Tracy Chapman was a man.

I get the Artic Monkeys and recordings of people screaming incoherently and banging on shit confused all the time.

my two year old nephew will start hitting a pot with a spoon and yelling baby jibberish and I'm like "LoLL, it's TEh new Monkeees JOiNT!"

Those are some good ones, i suppose someone could also confuse morrisey with the two morrisons.

Yeah and I get the Arctic Monkeys confused too. But not with what you said, with the Subways and occasionally I mistake arctic monkeys songs for bad Libertines songs.

What kind of name is Korova Milkbar for there to be more than one band named that! I mean come on!

in all seriousness, there is a local band called Cruiserweight that literally is a carbon copy of Coheed and Cambria. they actually got major airplay round here cuz so many people couldn't tell the difference.

When I first heard of Ween, I thought they were the band that did "Teenage Dirtbag" but then found out that was Wheatus. Haven't confused Weezer with the other guys, though...

Which is why it's a big problem. There are people out there who think that I like a song on "the new My Chemical Romance CD". :o
