The latest CBS News poll finds President Bush's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 34 percent, while pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a new high.
Ok, so it's a CBS poll which many might consider not having much pull, but anyways many know that bush is once again scraping his knuckles against the grain. With post Katrina relief still a quagmire, Iraq sinking in the sand, dubious dealings with Dubai, more sabre rattling, perpetual job losses, a trigger happy V.P. and countless other failings it looks like his second term is running on thin ice......again

wake up america!!!!!!

9/11: asleep at the switch.

Patriot Act: passed without reading.

Worst job creation record since Hoover (still!)

Gigantic deficit expressed as massive giveaway to unearned wealth.

Complete loss of international credibility on Iraq.

Complete loss of international human rights credibility in Abu Grahib.

Terry Schiavo: tone deaf political grandstanding.

Katrina: STILL asleep at the switch!

I can think of a dozen more, but why bother....

you left this important part out,
CBS polled more democrats and independents than they did republicans:

UNWEIGHTED WEIGHTED
Total Respondents 1018

Total Republicans 272 289
Total Democrats 409 381
Total Independents 337 348

Another striking element of the poll was the opinion of US soldiers over why they were there.

Only a quarter thought their role was establishing a democracy "that can be a model for the Arab world".

Nearly 86% said it was "to retaliate for Saddam's role in the 9/11 attacks", a role proved to have been non-existent.

Wow they were lied to too? I suppose valvano would chalk this up to them being dems or independents too.

It strikes me that the CBS poll is under no obligation to poll equal numbers of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans. It is only under the obligation to obtain a representative sample of the population. I would guess that respondents were probably asked for their political affiliation as part of the survey, not deliberately screened for this in advance. This sample happened to contain fewer Republicans than either Democrats or Independents. That, in and of itself, does not mean that its results are skewed. In point of fact, screening respondents in order to obtain an equal spread across the political spectrum would probably skew the results much more strongly.

Trust a partisan hack like valvano to insist that statistics be weighted to comfort his failure of a President, I guess.

true.
it would no longer be a random poll.

It could equally be interpreted as Republicans being: less likely to comment on the matter, due to shame; less likely to admit their political leanings due to shame; less able to answer simple questions correctly, and thus have their results tallied.

Is there a choice on "less able to even speak a full sentence (http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blbushisms.htm)" without embarassing the whole fucking country?

Time for another tape of Bin Ladenet viola! (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4630054.stm)Americans hardly need a tape of Osama Bin Laden to remind them they are threatened by extremists, as the War on Terror has overshadowed their lives since 9/11.

But the al-Qaeda leader's first message for more than a year will be a chilling and visceral reminder that he remains at large, waiting to strike again.

It may raise awkward questions about why the world's most advanced military and intelligence services are unable to capture Bin Laden, believed to be hiding in a rugged area along Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.

Yet the most immediate political effect will probably be a boost in support for President George W Bush.OBL to Bush's rescue (again)

I read the abc news interview and saw this:

"PRESIDENT BUSH: I agree that we didn't do as good a job as we could have done on Katrina. However, I would remind people that there was a hurricane right after Katrina that hit Louisiana and Texas, and the response was much better coordinated, and the situational awareness on the ground was much improved."

Didnt George ever learn " Never rude an apology with an excuse"

Anytime the bastard is asked anything, he somehow ends his answer with an excuse or persuades people into thinking that he actually answered the question.

And then he smirks or smiles in a smartass sort of way and everyone believes him.

WHAT!!??

But almost a year ago cheney said the insurgency was in its "Last Throes"

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/30/cheney.iraq/

So why the increased military action? We should be showered with flowers by now?
