I've seen every movie he's ever been in and Down By Law was golden. I SCREAM YOU SCREAM. WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICECREAM!

I saw and almost bought two CD's over the weekend by him~but the Johnny Cash Live in Montreax DVD and Deep Purple 74 DVD prevailed.

One had a song "The Piano's been Drinking not Me"
The other "A Christmas Card from a Hooker in ______"

If either of these songs are half as good as those titles then I'm sold

So I'd just like a pointer on what type of music is he pushing? I know that if I go to a dive restaurant where I can smoke I won't find either him or Iggy Pop on the juke~ But that's neither here nor there the question is what's a good one to take him out for an eardrive if you don't know him from Adam

....his stuff is kind of blues/jazz/avant-circus songwriter stuff. He sings a bit like Captain Beefheart.

I'd start off with swordfishtrombones, Bone Machine, or Rain Dogs first.

He's tough to describe.

It's best to just pick up Rain Dogs and see if you like it. You probably will.

Down By Law
My friend and I were talking about this last week. We love the movie but can't recommend it to anyone. Kind of like the music of Tom Waits.

My good friends here in Austin are in a Tom Waits cover band. I go to see them frequently; always a fun night out...

Check Out "Step Right Up (http://www.lyricsdir.com/tom-waits-step-right-up-lyrics.html)" a great Waits song I never tire of hearing.

Swordfishtrombones, yup. So have you seen him in Short Cuts? That's how Tom Waits looks to me, not that nice shiny healthy young lad in Down by Law...

Check Out "Step Right Up (http://www.lyricsdir.com/tom-waits-step-right-up-lyrics.html)" a great Waits song I never tire of hearing.

I never get tired of Anywhere I Lay My Head.

There's just so much fucking EMOTION in the song.

It's indescribable.

The way he sings the lyrics says more than the actual lyrics of 99.9% of songs.

The song could be in Russian and you'd know the exact emotion.
