I used to have that music video on tape.

That's a pretty hard-to-hate song.

Yes, only this song's from 1983.

They have a lot of good songs. A lot of good songs. This one doesn't even really scratch their top 20, though.

That's one of the first videos that was a little film. I loved that album when it came out. Heart of Gold particularly (maybe a little because it was about Chrissie Hynde).

I'm seeing Ray Davies in April -- have no idea what to expect.

The Kinks played in Seattle one night in the late 80's at the Paramount NW and I will always count it as one of the best concerts I've ever seen.

When Ray Davies sang "Don't Forget to Dance" the charm was overpowering, wearing a pinstripe suit with huge lapels, a pair of white shoes complete with spats and a gray derby hat and cane for effect, the Kinks went silent mid-song, at which point a single spotlight hit Ray as he looked around at the crowd of 1200 and asked , "What else are you gonna do on a Saturday Niight in Seattle? Have a milkshake and onion rings at the Doghouse?" Don't Forget to Dance indeed!

For this reason "Don't Forget to Dance" is my favorite Kinks song.

I won't take all that they hand me down,
And make out a smile, though I wear a frown,
And I'm not gonna take it all lying down,
'Cause once I get started I go to town.
I'm not like everybody else.
No, I'm not like everybody else.
