No sweat.

The only one I think might turn up a surprise is supporting actor. Paul Giamatti could easily get it. Or there could be a Clooney/Giamatti split which might help Jake G. get it, which I think would be a shame; I thought he was the weak part of that movie except in a couple of scenes.

If it were up to me, it'd be Ledger, who, I think, is just a smidgen better than Hoffman this time. I wish they could just tie.

ok I can see that and I agree, he did do an amazing job. The only 2 I have not seen are Good Night and Good Luck and Munich...how were those? McCarthyism??

Good Night/GL was really good, but it has zero narrative tension. It's weird; it's a movie which kind of pivots on what dangerous work these journalists were doing, but you never really see or feel why it's dangerous, what could happen, etc.

Straithern is fantastic, as always. Cinematography is drop-dead gorgeous. Clooney intercuts the proceedings with an in-studio jazz vocal recording. (Diana Reeves?) If the script had been just this much sharper, it would've been a great movie. As it is, it's like a really expert tone poem. B+.

Haven't seen Munich. :o

It's a bit weird to predict when I've only seen two of those films, Capote has been going on here for a week now, but I've been ill, and I'll be going to see Good Night, and Good Luck preview on the 13th. Its' pretty tough choosing between Capote and Brokeback Mountain, I want them both to win both best movie and best actors.

Well, I'm rootin' for Mr. Phoenix, as far as, winning for best actor...I saw the movie and he was excellant. Now, I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan...just part of my heritage (so, I'm probably a tad bit biased)...and he was able to capture that role, perfectly. Plus, he sang his own songs, like Reese Witherspoon.

Now, as far as, best actress...I guess, Charlize Theron. Reese Witherspoon and Kiera Knightly were both great! However, neither one really seemed to delve outside their "norm"...they both seemed to play "safe roles", so's to speak. Reese is a "southerner" and Kiera is "british"...so, naturally, they would be able to play those parts, well...especially, since they're both talented actresses to begin with.
