NO SPOILERS!
But please tell me whether you think someone who enjoys movies, but who isn't familiar with Beastie Boys, would/could enjoy the movie. Thanks.

I haven't seen it, but I'll offer my two cents.
I would think that no matter how great the film is from a cool, innovative, cinematography stand point, in order to really "like" the film, you'd have to at least "like" the music.

i think they have to be either be a fan of the band or of film or at least they should be the type to like loud music, because the film is LOUD.

What's the atmosphere going to be like in there? In the typical film viewing. People remaining seated I guess, kinda bobbing their heads?

probably just people sitting and bobbing their heads... that's the only dissapointing thing about it for me... it would be great if a concert atmosphere was encouraged.

a friend of mine took me to see the greenday concert movie (she loves them) and there were only enough people to fill up maybe 3 rows. and the sound was so low i had to walk out and ask a manager to turn up the volume, which they did but it still wasnt loud enough

Oh wow, that would be my worst nightmare. The Boys have a very strong following overall and here in Sac so hopefully that isn't an issue. (not sure how dedicated green day fans are though)

I tried to do this ...
I wanted to rent out a theater in NYC and have friends and their friends see it all at once.
First, I want to see people's reactions when they see it and as much as I would love to go see it 20 times, I can't afford to do so right now.
Also thought if it was a bunch of people all connected, no one would mind if people got up to dance in the aisles or what ever (and I'd bring my own beverages lol)
Anyways, after the 3/23 and 3/28 previews/awesome nights or what ever you want to call them were announced and alot of pepole are looking to do that, it shot the idea down a bit.

...because the film is LOUD.
Now that's what I like to hear! God, how am I going to keep myself from going ape-shit in the theater?
I also suspect some hi-jinks of some kind will insue.
As do I my friend. Haha, you said 'hi-jinks', that's a great word. (y) Gonna have to start putting that word into my vocab rotation fo sho.

I think it depends on the person. I took my boyfriend to see it and he didn't know much about the Beastie Boys or their music and he really enjoyed it.
I think all the hype for the screenings have made the official premiere date not as appealing. I'm hoping the theaters will be filled with a lot of people. I'm not too sure if many people know about the screenings though. If anything they might be more aware of the premiere date. I'm trying to spread the word about the film the best I can. Either way, I'll be having a great time when I see it. :D

I would love to see it in an empty theater. It's my favorite way to see any movie.
I am torn. I'm generally a more-the-merrier person, but I took a friend who wasn't a fan to a concert on the last tour and she was a giant pain in the ass. I've got some friends who really want to come to the movie. None of them like Beasties. A couple of them will be okay because they're cool, but I told a couple of others not to come. :o Folks are curious because of my fandom. I've only got one chance to see the movie and I don't want to worry about whether they're enjoying themselves.

All the more reason to attend shows by yourself sometimes. I've been in that situation before and it's sooooo not cool. I'd rather be cut free and enjoy the show at my own pace.

Yeah, I nearly ruined a friendship over the Chicago show.
I had more fun at other shows when I went alone and met other fans.

Who the hell goes to a concert or a movie by themselves? That's completely pathetic.

Wow, I hope you're kidding. You miss a lot if you're afraid of being alone in public.
None of my friends could take 2-3 weeks off of work and travel to another hemisphere for 3 Beasties concerts. I'm sure glad that I did it alone--one of the best ideas I ever had.
Plus, how often have you been at a concert with someone and wished you were alone? I felt that way in Chicago in Nov. 2004. :p

Yeah, I totally go to watch a movie for the socialising and top notch conversation you get done

I know that some young people feel self conscious about being in public alone. I suppose they think it looks like they have no friends. I always had a lot of friends and a lot of self esteem, so I find low self esteem difficult to understand.
I have a small group of cool people coming to the movie. I have avoided the ones who fail to understand that this is all about me and for me. :)

I don't have any friends or family who would WANT to see the movie, they're all close-minded anti-rap fools, shame. so I think the only way for me to see the movie would be alone, really.

I go to movies by myself about half the time. If I wait for my friends, I have to compromise and I'm rarely happy when I compromise.
The only reason people want to see this movie with me is because they're curious about what would cause me to follow a band. I doubt that seeing this movie will answer their question.
Hey, if you watch a movie by yourself at home, are you still "pathetic"?

Who the hell goes to a concert or a movie by themselves?
Someone with plenty of self confidence and a will to do what they want to do regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I'm flying solo. Probably going to meet up with Brother McDuff and maybe the Weezman...if he'll make the drive up to the burbs.

That makes you only semi-pathetic. :p
