discuss.

i love Good Eats and can't stand Emeril.

Rachel Ray's a good watch and i can't help but adore Paula Deen. my boyfriend's been to her restaurant!

Iron Chef America is enthralling, but there's nothing like the drama of the original Japanese episodes.

and the COMPETITIONS! oh my god! i can't believe they make them go over a freaking obstacle course with stairs and everything! it's the worst when the chef works for 6 hours on such an intricate piece that's 5 feet high and then when they pick it up CRASHtinkletinkle it's on the floor. you can just see the tears in their eyes and the restraint from throwing their puffy hats on the floor.

man, i want to be a chef.

We don't get the Food Network in Canada anymore, dammit.

Emeril Live or whatever it was, god what a crazy man. Almost as bad watching Jaques Pepin or Julia Childs with my mom on a Sunday back when I had no social life.

I haven't seen it in years. I used to ADORE the gourmet show with David Rosengarden or whatever his name is (I think he's one of the heads of the network). He would make complicated things but also a burger, and he would pair each entree with a wine or a beer.

I enjoyed Emeril before he had an audience.

a cook's tour and the surreal gourmet are my favorites

I'm normally not one to boast, but I actually had a brief appearance on one of their documentaries!

I was working in the kitchen at the Brookstreet hotel in Ottawa one night a few months back. I wasn't doing anything earth-shattering, just shucking a few oysters, but the camera guy was fixated on me for about 5 minutes chronicalling my struggles with those ugly and disgusting little things.

a cook's tour

bourdain is dude...didn't they make a sitcom out of kitchen confidential [a book of his]?
when he went to singapore, he ate this fish head curry thing, so i copied him and went there too.
it was iight.

edit: a fake geoff jansz added me to his myspace, i find it kind of weird cos he only has, like, 10 friends and there is nothing on my profile that might suggest that i like him or food shows in general.

Watching Good Eats is the equivalent of watching Tonya Harding's porn video. It gives me the clap.

Can't get it here and I'd pay a knot to be able to. Mint watched it religiously in Costa Rica. And to me this is incredible~ She'd see a show never take note about the spices and foods used and such then we'd go to the grocery store and she'd buy the whole shebang and then make that very meal

Unpossible! When I'd watch the food network all I got out of it was hungry. And yes, the way to a mans heart...

Geoff Jansz is so awesome. Whips Hewy any day. Some of the stuff hewy dishes up is really basic and crap looking. Jansz always has flair. I used to like this saturday cooking show they had which featured heaps of chefs. One was this white middle aged british dude with a pet dog that came with him as he went around britain. The other was ainsley harriot, the other was the gay judge from my restaurant rules, the other was the attractive female judge from my restaurant rules, and there were a few others, i think a greek dude.
