Tragedy + Time = Comedy
Musician + Death = Revolutionary Genius
Rapper + Death = Martyr
Musician + Breakup = Classic Album
Artist + Drugs + Infidelity = Genius
Somewhat Crappy President / Sex Scandal + (Time x Really Crappy President) = Not so bad President

Nothing to add. Just a pat on the back. Your observations are spot on
I hate it when a prick dies and everyone that didn't like him/her carries on about how they were a saint and it's a tragedy. The best obituary I've ever read was about this asshole that was shot and killed in BKK and the paper said that he ws an ass. Sorry I can't find the link bc it's dated. But the broad strokes said he lied more than Tommy Flanagan, he had been a mercenary in Africa years back and ws kicked out of Thailand years earlier and lived/died here on a fake passport/name and the world was a better place without him. And still, everyone that knew him and had previously hated him and went to his funeral pyre.

I,ve often thought that some musicians who die are then elevated somewhat in status by people.
I dont wanna mention any names cos I might offend people but theres been some from way back and some from a few years ago that maybe they didnt make a massive impact or hadnt fulfilled their potential.
It seems now because they are dead ( or perhaps the way they died) that they (and their music)are revered in a way that wouldnt have been if still alive.

I ws more upset to hear that Don Knots had died than Kurt Cobain
Don Knots was in Cannonball Run II, which is the most underrated movie of all time. Kurt Cobain was killed by his whore of a wife. His music can never compare to Cannonball Run II

Ok then but this is gonna upset a few people.
Tupac - he was good but not that good in my eyes (sorry gmile) I think the stuff released afterwards is poor quality
Biggie - i think he was on the way to becoming a legend but not quite there
Aaliyah - think she is revered now cos of her tragic death but didnt really do much musically
Cobain - was great but it was the "suicide" that made him a legend
Jim Morrison - he was in a great band but he could have been so much better if he wasnt twatted all the time.
There's a great line from Denis Leary "We need a two hour movie bout the Doors I dont fuckin think so folks. I can sum that guys life in ten seconds. I'm drunk - I'm nobody, I'm drunk - I'm famous, I'm drunk - I'm fuckin dead. Big fat dead guy in a bathtub, theres your title"
And if Pete Doherty carrries on the way he is - he'll end up dead and make himself a bit of a martyr but to be honest I dont think he's that good.He wasnt even the shining light of the Libertines, sure he had a bit of charisma but now he's just a skag head in a poor band.
Sorry if this offends anyone but thats what i think

Tupacs life was more interesting than his music IMHO. Anyone that shoots a 2 cops~one in the ass~ and gets away with it needs to be put on a stamp as far as I'm concerned. And Gang Related and that movie with him and Tim Roth needs its propers. Those were both great movies.
Denis Leary is a sellout hack. He stole his material from the late great Bill Hicks

True but he had the odd good line - he did nick some stuff from the Hicks man but they went different ways and Leary went for the more populist stance and Hicks took em all on and did things his way and told people exactly like it was. Hicks was the fuckin man and LEary did go all hollywood but Leary wasnt the worst comic in the world.
