well, sort of. i'm at home, recovering with my pain-killers. going back to the hospital on tuesday for another x-ray, and some other stuff. my wounds are healing very good. the surgery was successful, i.e. the polyp was removed, and i got to keep my right lung.
and i can actually feel my right lung now. my chest feels bigger and stronger. i can take long deep breaths again without coughing. it feels amazing.
one of my surgeons told me that the surgery was a bit "tricky" and took 4½ hours, which is two hours longer than an "average" polyp surgery. he also said that the condition of my right lung was terrible, and that i'd been lucky escaping pneumonia. i don't doubt it. on every x-ray you can see that my right lung is smaller than the left one. instead of expanding, it has shrunk, because of the lack of fuel (oxygen and blood), and it was full with phlegm. yum. and it happened slowly, so i never really noticed anything. clever, i must say.
feel free to ask anything about this. there's so much to tell, so just ask. i'll post a few pictures later.
many thanks to everyone who's sent me positive vibes via pm/email/sms. it's meant a lot.
