Okay, so growing up in Pittsburgh pretty much made me rely on outsourcing for an inspirational player. After his play in game 6 of the '91 World Series, I found the man. He was a hell of a player and a man, other than that crazy ex-wife bullshit (her claiming spousal abuse just to get a buck). Everyone around him always said what a nice man he was. His career ended sadly and untimely when he was hit in the dome batting and loss sight in one of his eyes. But he did enough to get into the Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

Big Ups, Kirb.

Yeah, he was one of the good guys in the sport.

I heard he really let himself go though once he stopped playing.

I also heard he had 2 brothers that didn't live to be 50 as well.

he stayed with the same team his whole career......for that alone, he gets mad respect!

it was nice seeing a player who looks like his diet consists of nothing but doughnuts go out and be a premier player during his day.

4 bills would be pretty large if he was 7 feet tall.

Its pretty sad, and weird too...because I was discussing him with a friend the night before he had the stroke. Hadnt thought of him in a long time or even mentioned him and he just sorta popped into my head and I was like "I wonder what hes up to now?"

Yeah, my friends were just jokin around the other night about Kirby puckett and the twins back in the day.

It's wierd seeing the athletes I watched growing up already dead.

I was a little upset hearing about this, Puckett was always an incredible player to watch, especially at the plate....

He's up there playing in the big diamond in the sky.

True.

He obviously meant a lot to us, and I'll never forget his twinkling eyes and his brilliant laugh. There are obviously stories on him all over our news and they all mention the bad stuff (as they have to--it's what all the female fans are talking about today). I hope that there will be a time when I can think of him without thinking of the bad things. But I kind of doubt it.
