I sucked my thumb for a looooooonnnnnngggg time. as I got older I would only suck it to fall asleep at night. I was about thriteen when I finally broke myself of the habit.

Last night I was watching American Idol (I know it's crap but I'm addicted to this season now) and Mandisa the big gal who gave an outstanding performance of "I'm every woman" (and for a moment I actually thought she was every woman it was that fucking good) admidted that she sucked her thumb until she was 24. Right on girl! (y) thumbsuckers rule!


So yeah if you sucked your thumb post here. which thumb (right or left)? and for how long? Did you damage your teeth doing it?

(I sucked my right thumb and infact if you compare my thumbs the right nail is much flatter than the left from all those years of having it in my mouth. and yeah I had to have braces for my buck teeth.)

I was embarassed about my habit that's why I quit. Plus it was fucking up my teeth. I tried the hot sauce under the nail, but it turns out I really didn't mind hot sauce. I think I even wraped it up in gauze once, but I pulled it off in my sleep. eventually, gradually, some how...I just stopped.

i was always putting my fingers in my mouth... i guess that would explain all the sore throats as a kid... then i became a cronic nail bitter... i've let my nails grow in recent years, but still find myself nibbling on my nails ( not bitting them off) or nibbling on my thumb when i'm anxious or nervous... i have so many gaps between my teeth... it hurts when i eat doritos cuz the sharp points on the chip pierce the section between my teeth (n)

I never sucked on my thumb - but I did suck on a piece of my hair when I was a child.

My mom said one time when I was a baby, I was crying really bad because I didn't have my pacifier. And since she couldn't find it, she just stuck her thumb in my mouth to shut me up (she just turned 18). :p But for a while she had to do that until I fell asleep because I prefered it over my pacifier for some reason. As I grew up, until I was a bout 6 or so, I had a favorite blanket that I would put over my face and suck my thumb under it all the time. So yeah, I guess I was a thumbsucker. :o

Up until about second grade...I always slept with my first two fingers (pointer and middle finger) on my left hand in my mouth.

I've sucked my thumb since my mom took my pacifier away when I was about 3. And I do it a lot. It relaxes me.
But I don't just suck my thumb, I always do it in combination with rubbing a bit of cloth. Sometimes it can be like meditation.It makes me so relaxed I dont want to stop sometimes.
I don't do it in public though, because people would stare. It's weird actually, how you can smoke in public and everyone thinks it's normal, because people are addicted, but if you do something that's relaxing and totally non hazardous to anyone, you get stared at like you're a loony.
Only downside to this is that I look like a wabbit with my gappy buckteeth.
Oh well...

*applause* yay. I know being a thumbsucker isn't easy, but there isn't anything wrong with it. I was teased alot about it, espcially when I was older. I also did it in conjuction with cloth. I had a satin pillow case that I called my "silky". I had one for upstairs in my bedroom and one for downstairs. but sometimes I would carry them around and they'd get mixed up. But I could always tell the difference by the way they smelled. Yup. freak, that's me.

when i was in primary school(11 years old),there was this girl in my class who suck her thumb.I never really understand why at thta age you could still suck your thumb!

^ some of us are just neuortic and insecure. thumbsucking for whatever reason, seems to help.

well the problem with sucking dicks is that they grow in your mouth and then they don't fit in there as well. and they also squirt.


but with a thumb, you've got easy access and ensured fit and no messy clean up. (y)

I was a thumbsucker up until I was about four. My thumb got smashed while I was fucking around on the playground so I had to switch over to my index finger. I stayed with that until I was about ten. It gave me a hell of an overbite. Nothing that five years of braces and two years of retainers couldn't fix, though.
