You go to your neighborhood caucus and the first neighbor to speak announces that he's a Lutheran minister and that he wants to propose a referendum that endorses gay marriage because "it's simply a matter of civil rights."
And the referendum passes without dissent.
Then the second neighbor (a 70ish woman) proposes a referendum to reinforce our support for legal abortions and in fact she wants the state to pay for them. And the referendum passes without dissent.
(I got a bit choked up when the old lady was talking. She was nervous about speaking in front of the group, and what does she really have at stake, but she cares more than any young women, and in fact there was only one young woman present.)
The third referendum was anti-war, but that's just silly because it's not a state/local issue.
Oh, and number 4 would outlaw the teaching of pseudo science as science. :)
