I went to a Babes In Toyland show over 10 years ago at a local club and was right up front wearing my Beastie Boys cap and the lead singer chick swiped it off my head and wore it herself for the rest of the show...but I never got it back.

K's Choice is a awesome Belgian band that I've seen twice with lead singer Sarah Bettens and brother Gert.(y)

<3

Is there anyone else though?

With the original riot grrls, I liked reading their interviews more than listening to their music.

But I'd like some NEW music that gets me fired up. I loved The Woods, but will there be a new Woods for 2006? From what female group?

God, I haven't listened to Babes in Toyland in ages. Amazing band. So's Sleater-Kinney. I've only got All Hands on the Bad One though. What's another Sleater-Kinney album worth getting?

Another band I really liked was L7. My copy of Bricks Are Heavy disappeared long ago though. :(

One Beat has some great tracks.

The Woods - easily one of the best albums of last year.

I dont know about riot grrl acts, but theres a few good female fronted bands (although not entirely female) going around. Australia's redsunband (http://www.theredsunband.com/) (check out devil song) is a good example, but nobody seems to like them except me :(

My local radio station has been playing them a lot lately. It's strange hearing Run-DMC, Johnny Cash, and L7 in a row on a "mainstream rock" station. Not that I'm complaining about it.(y)

Babes in Toyland got respect from other bands and were a big influence on some of them, which strikes me funny because they didn't have a big profile locally.

Would the Slits be considered the first riot grrrl band? I just loved them to death! And Raincoats. But guess they're too nice. Like grrrlie...

I was a big L7 fan, Bricks are heavy and Hungry for stink are great albums (y)
Saw them live once, the sound was quite messy, fun fact they complained that everyone in the audience was just smoking pot and not moving at all :)
And they sold the best band t-shirt ever (http://www.8ball.co.uk/productimages/16609-1sm.jpg)

What about Team Dresch and later on Jody's next
band Hazel (we supported Hazel with my old band
back in 1997, btw: bis and Sleater Kinney as well
in Dresden and Hamburg – also ages ago :()

One recommended German Act will definitely be
Rhythm King and Her friends, the new band of our
former singer/guitarist. They supported Le Tigre
in Germany about 2 years ago…

That shirt saved my friend from getting arrested in 93 or 94. The cops laughed at the shirt so much that they decided not to search him which was a good thing for him.

Remember Bratmobile? Good stuff.

Peaches perhaps for today?

and le tigre obviously.

and Lesbians on Extacy.
