It's pretty amazing how fast this Myspace caught on--so widespread, that my family, and especially my sister, know about it, and they are computer illiterate, and oblivious to the happenings on the internet.
As much as I spend time on the internet, and take part in its many communities, trends, and services, I could never get interested in Myspace. I could never understand the appeal. I do understand that personalizing your own page, with pictures, text, and video can be fun, but it's the community aspect that I don't get. When you add friends to your page, from what I've been told, you can communicate with them on forums of some sort, privately, so that can be neat, I guess. However, I find the messages at the bottom annoying.
I've said this before, but if people want to get to know each other well enough, they should communicate through IRC. I find IM, Myspace, and forums don't give justice to one's true personality and feelings. Well, IM is decent, but I find one-on-one confrontations with people you don't know well to be a poor medium to use.

Once you go MySpace, you never go LiveJournal.

I had a small complaint from a German band called Dustsucker that tryed to force me into changing the name of my one-man band, because they were around since 1994 or so.. The pathetic losers were probably just after my myspace adress. After some debate it got obvious they didn't have a leg to stand on and I never heard from them again. Fuckers.
Myspace is nice for promoting music, but I don't see the point of having a profile otherwise.

As many blogs as there are on the internet, I wonder how many of them are even bothered to be read. I get those--people get bored, and update others on their life. Although, I don't like those either. I wouldn't have much to write about anyhow.

I am frustated by this as well. I use blogs to post my writings nothing more.

I agree. I rely on it for that--searching for bands on Myspace through Google. It's a quick and simply way to listen to bands you've never heard before.

I like online journals because I'm too lazy to hold a pen and actually WRITE. Plus, LiveJournal has little communities for hair, make-up, music, etc., etc.

In that case, they are beneficial, and I support small communities that don't have a wide enough fanbase. I prefer them over large communities, such as the BBMB, where many people's threads and posts get washed away with little notice.

only on myspace will you find the entire Wu-Tang Clan (all 9 including Cappadonna)...I personally enjoy going to U-God's page and laughing at how this silly man could be part of rap history. Good times.

There is no shame in that. I would only trust people that I've come to know for a long time, if I had a page of my own. When I say "come to know", I mean, having observed their posts on forums for awhlie, or having spoken to them just as much. I don't trust 99% of the people at Myspace. There are TONS of creeps there.
