i'm pretty sure yesterday was the best day ever.

i decided to take a "college day" and pretty much skip school to go to austin yesterday. i just had to tour the UT campus for about an hour and get this paper signed and i was done.

After the tour and lunch, i went to downtown austin. i went to the convention center to try and maybe get a glimpse of the beastie boys before the interview...no luck. so i went to the paramount to start waiting in line about 3 hrs before the movie started. there were about 3 people already waiting in the general admissions line. the dude in front of me told us that he heard that they were only seating half the paramounts capacity (which is normally about 1000). i was a little worried considering all of the badges and passes were able to get in before us.

At about 5:45 my brother arrived fresh from the interview and immediately showed me his short recording of it. i was tremendously excited and couldn't stop smiling! then i told him about the half capacity of the theater thing and he's got connections so me and my friend ended up "volunteering" (which really meant we were standing in front of the theater, waiting). they put up some velvet ropes and rolled out a red carpet and displayed an awesome movie poster. i was standing right next to the velvet rope and i'm pretty sure i started hyperventilating. i kept thinking they're going to pass right by me...so close that i can touch them!! but then the badge people started being allowed to go in the theater and then my brother said that we were supposed to go in also. we immediately headed for the front row seats and i sat in the center.

then pooty and miramanee sat next to my brother, but i didn't know it was them until later. the theater started playing beastie boy songs so i was having a good time singing along. i was wondering where adrock, mca, and mike d were so i looked on the upstairs balcony. it was empty except for a few people and i immediately caught sight of a knicks hat and a familiar striped shirt! i got really excited and continued staring, and then i saw yauch just sitting there...i must've been staring for a while cuz then yauch sorta waved at me (at least i think it was to me) so i just instinctively waved my hand with a huge smile. mike d was blocked by a pole but i saw his leg. i turned back around and the smile was on my face throughout the whole movie.

i don't really know what to say about the movie but it sure made me one heck of a happy person! i couldn't stop moving during it and just wanted to stand up and dance. i haven't been to a concert yet, but this definately made up for that.

then the Q&A part came and as the beastie boys filed on stage. my smile was huge and i think i squealed a bit...i kinda felt like throwing up b/c i was so darn excited. they were just sooo close! my brother told me to ask a question but i had no idea what to ask...and i doubted that i could even build up enough courage to ask a question to these people that i have been idolizing for so long! he told me a simple, short question to ask but i had a feeling that i would butcher it somehow. then as people kept asking, i kept listening and smiling and waiting and shaking and building up some courage. then pooty asked his question and i looked behind me and there were lots of hands up so i told myself this is it, if i don't do it now i will definately regret it. so my hand slowly crawled up and waited. mike d kept looking at me and then finally he pointed at me. they were all staring at me while my voice just starting saying this question. i asked if they ever thought about showing this film to a standing audience and mike d said something like "yeah! when i first saw it, i know i wanted to just get up and dance" and mca said something about watching it at a bar and drinking beers. i was definately the happiest person alive at that moment. i felt like peeing in my pants...then i realized that i really did have to pee...really badly. i tried listening to what everybody was asking and what they were answering but my head was going crazy so i just laughed when everybody else laughed and was completely oblivious when they just got up and walked off stage.

that was my awesome night and definately the best experience ever.

sorry for the length...

oh and here's the little part of the interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkyEfZ1sI7A) that my brother recorded

that's him asking the question.

i specifically told him to ask mca about the gum but he said that he just saw adrock chewing gum...

last night i thought about it and came to the conclusion that i could've died at that moment and would've been completely happy...considering i was already in heaven :)

It's so great to hear your story!! I know that feeling, when you see them...it's absolutely bizarre, to see so close up, these people that you feel you know, you've watched and listened to them and they are a big part of your life...

I'm very glad you got the courage to ask the question though, and it was a good question! That's how I felt during the show - me and miramanee were rocking out and we totally wanted to get up during it.
