I just got a call from Pooty. Pooty and Miramanee made it in to the show. It just ended with a setlist of about 14 or 15 songs. I heard a horrible cellphone receptioned Root Down and Sure Shot.
They were able to snap a few pics and will post them as soon as they can.
I'll let them post additional info and details.

I got to go! I went down to Stubb's and thought there is no way in hell I'm gettin in w/o a badge. So went into bar for drink & food, some guy in there had some wristbands, offered $, he said just take it and gave me 2. My friend and I walked in through the downstairs w/o having to go through that big ass line. I got right up to the stage. I am so happy right now. 3rd x seein em. They are one of my fav's and are in a category all there own. Wow, I can't believe I got in.:)

Those with advance knowledge of the Beastie Boys (music)' "secret" Thursday evening (3/16) show at Stubb's BBQ kept news of the gig so well-guarded that, a little more than an hour before show time, the line to get in was only about six miles long.
Secret or no secret, those who were in attendance can consider themselves lucky, as the number of hopefuls turned away once the venue was full reportedly numbered in the hundreds. Some resorted to taking in the show from the top deck of the parking garage across the street.
The frenzy was understandable. From the moment the Beasties kicked off their set, it was clear that Stubb's was the place to be.
Adam "MCA" Yauch, Michael "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz bounded onto the canopy-covered outdoor stage shortly after 7 p.m. and played an hour-long set that was filled with familiar raps, lots of laughs and some scorching turntable work by the group's fourth member, DJ Mixmaster Mike.
The veteran emcees busted out several tracks from their most recent studio album, 2004's "To the 5 Boroughs," as well as classic gems such as "Egg Man," "Root Down," "No Sleep Till Brooklyn," "Paul Revere" and a show-closing rendition of the mega-hit "Intergalactic."
Throughout the set, the Beasties seemed as relaxed on stage as if they were hanging out at home, and filled the between-song gaps with plenty of joking--much of which was inside stuff that, nonetheless, still seemed funny to those of us who weren't in the know--and, as Ad-Rock put it, "banter," which MCA helpfully explained is an "industry term."
Though each Beastie Boy now hovers on either the near or far side of age 40 and sports plenty of gray hair (and, in MCAs case, a bushy, mostly gray beard), the trio still comes off like a group of 20-somethings having a blast--which makes sense, since, as Ad-Rock pointed out during "No Sleep Till Brooklyn": "My job ain't a job / it's a damn good time." It's as easy to believe that he means it now as it was when he first said it 20 years ago.

Beastie Boys hit Stubb's
Causing a human 5 o'clock traffic jam that wrapped around two blocks, rap-rockers the Beastie Boys played a secret show at Stubb's on Thursday night. Only it wasn't much of a secret, thanks to word-of-mouth, which spreads at South by Southwest like colds in kindergarten. The place was so jammed that hundreds were turned away. The New York trio, at SXSW to promote their new concert film, Awesome: I [expletive] Shot That, ran through a set that relied heavily on their last album, their 2004 love letter to New York, To the 5 Boroughs, but also included a few oldies, such as No Sleep Till Brooklyn.

I only have one request at this point...
Secret Show in NYC!!!
there was supposed to be a show at the Bandshell in Brooklyn during the Pageant Tour, but it was cancelled...
with all the promoting and secret shows, they need to bring it back home to the 5 Boroughs....

my brother was one of the lucky people to go to the show and he recorded some of it with his digital camara. he said that the speakers were huge and the bass was loud so the quality of sound is very low on the recordings.

That's nice
Early evening Thursday, the line at Stubb's stretched out and around the corner. The barbecue landmark has an outdoor stage in the rear and it's become as famous as any venue affiliated with SXSW. It is also probably one of the most unlikely venues ever played by the Beasties.
Their set Thursday night opened with "Brass Monkey," their irresistible 1987 party song. What followed was a playful and commanding performance. The three members are lean and on top of their game, and roughhousing on stage they seemed like old neighborhood guys who had come back to the borough for a game of pick-up.

Mike started using the extended freshhhhhh/finger in the air during 04 Pageant. It evolved over time to getting the audience involved and making sure MMM was paying attention.
