You've got it right.

But apparently it has (very short) articles along with the photos of scantily clad women covered in sweat or vaseline. :p

Yes, that appears to be a different favorite old board member.

Good one, thanks for sharing Bigg Russ. (y) I know I'll like the movie because I got a lot of symptoms of ADD.

interesting how the beasties claim to believe one thing, and then appear in magazines like this.

That's porn for real?

zorra_chiflada

no nipples and no genitals, but everything in between.
just as pathetic, in my opinion.

i really wouldn't give a shit about them appearing in such magazines if they didn't act so "PC" and "respectful to women, etc" in their songs. but this does irk me.

As a concept, it's probably more pathetic than porn.

I'm actually too stupid to offer my definitive feelings on this interview though.

I think publicity is a double edged sword at the best of times.

Interesting points Zorra. I certainly don't know how the whole PR/media machine works. But I imagine Yauch has done a ton of interviews regarding AIFST in the past couple of months. Wouldn't some of those interviews be with freelance writers that then sell their interviews to various magazines. It's possible Yauch didn't know where this would appear.

Or...they have a list of mags and publications they want to appear in because it's their target market. And Maxim falls in that category.

Also, the case can be made that just because you do an article in a magazine, you don't necessarily agree with everything that publication says, writes, or publishes.

And I'll usually pick up Maxim when I'm stuck in an airport. Yeah they have the scantily clad women, but the goofy short articles and sense of humor is second to none.

There is actually a lot to be said for goofily written articles.

Actually, no, I wasn't joking at the time I replied, because Maxim isn't what I consider soft porn, although I do see your point.

IMHO, porn, as the most common ideal that the abbreviation conjurs in most minds, contains nudity (inclusive of private parts) and displays of sexual acts, censored or not. Innuendo of said displays does not soft porn make.

You can see the same people in all their scantally-cladness just the same at a beach. Does that make the beach a soft porn area?

yes, i always see greasy, large breasted blondes touching each other on the beach. all the time. yep.

Sarcasm aside, on the beaches I'VE been too (Daytona, Far Rockaway, Venice, Virginia, etc.) there are chicks that look JUST LIKE THAT walking the boardwalk. Sure, they're not all greased down and stuff. But you think the fact that they're NOT greased down makes them any less noticable to the men on the beach?

Remember, all that extra stuff (i.e. grease, mud, 'fake' sweat) is just that....extra. Men don't need ANY of that to find woman sexually attractive.

And for the record, I have witnessed woman to things to each other in public places that would obviously make YOUR jaw drop. The quickest memory that comes to mind is when one chick licked this other chicks nipple on the NYC subway. I won't go into details...but the funniest thing was that NO ONE on the subway flinched or stared or even hinted that they saw what happened.

Regardless...that's taking this thread into different territory.

Sorry, everyone! I Didn't mean for this to get out of hand. From now on, I'll only scan and post Beastie articles I find in National Geographic, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Life, Jet and Boy's Life. :D

look, in all honesty, i really don't give a shit about what these magazines have in them. that's up to them. there is no law against it. although i don't like it, i'd never try and stop them being published.

what does annoy me though is how the bboys would have an article in one of these magazines. they have always claimed that they have "changed their ways" and are "respectful of women" now. if i was in their position, i would not want an article published in a magazine thats sole purpose is to objectify women and place unrealistic standards of beauty for the titillation of men.

just my two cents.

In all honesty, I don't think ANY of us really give a shit about what these magazines have in them. LOL! Chill, man....This discussion is all in good fun.

BTW, ANY magazine's sole purpose is to make money, regardless of its contents, ya heard? ;)
