whos seen this mock documentary on dog shows with Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Parker Posey among others? i saw it last night, and it is hands down one of the funniest movies ive ever seen.

Harlan Pepper- "when theyre in the show, the dogs look at the judges and think `pick me, pick me! im the best one here, pick me!`,like they could communicate with the judges, well they wouldnt speak cuz theyre dogs, but, well, they could communicate through telepathy"

the redhead kid thats eating at the dinner table, that suddenly gets up and then grabs the dog and sits on the roof outside, and then eugen levy "COME DOWN FROM THERE OR I WILL CUT YOUR EYEBALLS OUT, I SHIT YOU NOT"

oh my fucking god...yea.

I believe that i'm thinking of the wrong one...does the movie you speak of have all the 'Kids in the Hall' alumni in it? Who else was in the one i'm thinking of....Luke Wilson I think.

no, its not that one, no luke wilson, its a mock documentary where they have different characters involved in one of those typical dog shows, one of them is all psycho/anal, another is a group of gay guys, then theres the slut wuth eugene levy, then theres this redneck (christiopher guest), etc

i haven't seen best in show (aside from bits of it when it's on TV every now and then, but that doesn't really count), but i have seen a mighty wind and spinal tap, which i believe are by the same group, more or less. i love those two movies, so i assume i like best in show as well

? Brain Candy? I don't think Luke Wilson is in that movie. I LOVE BRAIN CANDY.

I like Best in Show the most out of all of those films. Yes, more than Spinal Tap.

I just love Parker Posey. Someone else has to find something to put her in. Another House of Yes or whatever.

All of Chris Guest movies have these perfect little moments that make the movies worth seeing, but none of them can sustain it for the whole movie, in my opinion. Spinal Tap was my favorite by far because it was a complete surprise when it came out.

from my understanding most of that movie was completely ad-libbed.

oh, yea! i forgot to mention that, the whole movie is them being told to act out certain situations and then all done through improv

i cant get over the "the dogs communicate through telepathy" part, it goes beyond me, its fkin hilarious...noones posting their favorite parts!

oh shit the commentator!

(paraphrasing ofcourse)

"why do they make the dogs walk away and to them like that? you think the dogs know theyre in a competition?"

"well were at the bottom of the 9th inning again.."

"you know what would be funny? if that competitor with the bloodhound dressed up as Sherlock Holmes. You know what i mean? like with a little cap and a pipe coming out of his mouth?"

*while the judge is checking a dog, doing the feeling the anus thing*
"whoaho, i sure wouldnt wanna be in this competition! i once told my proctologist after a checkup `well you might as well take me out for dinner and a movie now` "

me too. That movie was whacked in all the right places.

I looked into the movie I was thinking of; it was called 'Dog Park'. I think the fact that dogs were prominent in both films it threw me off. It stars Natasha Hendstridge(sp) opposite Luke Wilson with a few 'Kids in the Hall' acting in supporting roles.

I'll have to see 'Best in Show'. It sounds funny!

I remember the gold-digger married to the old dude.

"We could talk about anything,or nothing for hours. "

And Parker Posey's dog going into therapy because it caught her and her husband fucking. lol at them dumping all their issues on that silly looking dog...

It's one of my favorite of their movies.

Some people don't get or appreciate that style of humor.

haha, i LOVE that guy. i wish he had a bigger part in spinal tap.

This is our monthly "At Ease" weekend. It gives us a chance to let our hair down, although I see you've got a head start in that department. I shouldn't talk, though, I'm getting a little shaggy myself. I'd better not stand too close to you, people might think I'm part of the band. I'm joking, of course.

she needs her own sitcom.

I liked it. But a friend of mine who is a filmmaker and normally enjoys their stuff said he was disappointed in it - he felt it was too mean-spirited.

I loved A Mighty Wind.

No, Parker Posey needs her own film industry. She's perfection.

I think Waiting For Guffman was the best. I'm not a huge fan of Christopher Guest's stuff, though. I find it all a little boring after a while. None of the movies are really clever enought to sustain their full duration. They'd make better shorts.

hahaha

btw, i dont agree much with Parker Posey, all i saw in her character was a bit of stereotypical overacting, only funny it some parts but because of the situation she was told to act out, she wasnt very original in her actions/reactions, anyone couldve done her part

I loved the movie. One thing they nailed right off the bat was Dog Show Commentators. They always have one person who actually knows dogs and then they have some well-known broadcasting moron who asks the stupidest questions about the dogs. (I'm really knowledgeable about dogs/breeds so everytime I watch a dog show I cringe at the stupidity of the one dumb annoucer).

And all the dog breeders--so spot on. dog people are kooky, kooky. I should know, I am one.
