Members of heralded hip hop collective the Juice Crew, MC Shan and Roxanne Shante, are soliciting talent for a post millennium version of the eighties stalwarts. "The new Juice Crew will be something different; not the ‘I slang drugs, I got jewelry’ rhymes; it’ll be more talented artists," said Shan.
The Queens, New York natives want the best emcees, producers and singers to send one or two song demos in MP3 format to thejuicecrew@hotmail.com for review by industry vets, including themselves. Shan envisions a new version of the star studded group, which included Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Craig G and Masta Ace, "carry[ing] on the legacy of the original crew."
This is encouraging for hip-hop. We'll see how this unravels.
