Mad B-Hedz - Packed house

GREAT film, GREAT show

The Beastie Boys popped out after the screening to a standing ovation, NYC style... whoo hoo, i saw all three from 3 movie theater rows back, yee haw

they did a "Q & A" - mostly the audience cheering and falling all over themselves... (the radio show will be back)

Good Shit, Nice, Sweet, YEAH!

End of Story.

god why is it i always feel like a blabbing 13 year old when i see them up close? never ceases to surprise me

(cheers! gotta go to work early tomorrow)

I was the one who asked about the radio show. I never heard a solid "YES" on that coming back. I did hear them say that they thought no one "gave a shit" about the show. Screening was good, gald I went downtown for it.

Good times had by all.........

the dancing girl from the trailer was sitting right next to me. she and her friends freaked out when she received her cameo in the film...

the Q&A was the same as previous interviews.. the crowd shouting at the band,... "are you recording", "are you still married", "what are you doing this weekend", so on and so forth...

Sasquatch is dead, Country Mike isnt doing too good, and MIke D and AdRock accepted a two-on-two challenge, also D told us how to play Critter...

MCA had to calm the raucous crowd down...

the DVD comes out June 25, according to a thinkfilm bigwig who was there...

our theater was pretty full, i would say sold out down on the bottom and the balcony was reserved for VIPs...

i still love the grids, i love the negative editing in SWW, and no one has mentioned the "crushing your head" bit that one cameraman did...

cant wait for the DVD

Hey

i was at the screening of I f'in Shot That tonite in NYC, Union Square Regal 14 Movie Theater (8pm)

Before the show the MC mentioned to stick around for 3 special guests, and, sure enough, the boys completed a short QandA sessions.

Thoughts:
1) The short with David Cross, a day in the life of Nathaniel Hornblower was lame. He was bad, the jokes werent funny. Good idea. Poor execution.
2) The film itself (i fin shot that) was very good. Good idea. Good execution. Great editing. I was afraid the film would be a poor mix of drunken college guys pointing their Hi-8's at one another, but i wasnt. Kudos.
3) Film highlights: Squashing MikeD with fingers. "Look fun on camera"-guy. Boys going into the crowd/elevator music.
4) Film lowlights: Ben Stiller, fat chick dancing, cheesy special effects.
5) the Question and Answer session was very unorganized. It would have been better with an MC calling on people.
6) Q-and-A Lowlights: MikeD was playing with his t-mobile sidekick (eww), girl from the upstairs asking "what was with that nathanial blowerhorn thing", girl downstairs pathetic kiss-up, "thanks for keeping music honest and true".
7) Highlights: Girl asked AdRock if he was still married, a guy (mike) who shot some footage was there, joking about AdRock playing for the Knicks.

this is all off the top of my head. More to come Later. DVD to be releaed in Jun 26th, i think she said.

if you have any pics, please post. Some dude had a video camera.

word up, yo.

im pretty happy that the beastie boys treated us to a little appearance at the theater last night. after the credits rolled, they came out a side door, had some roaring applause, pictures and then came to the front of the theater. adam y had to quiet down the audience with a funny, "alright!"

its was dumb but funny that this girl in the audience was yelling "sing something!"

mike said they dropped the ball with the radio show but adam h said theyd be back.

oh yeah, horovizt seems to be very happy that sasquach is dead (me too) and that he's with quasar and country mike.

i just noticed that mca shaved the beard

mike looked shy or nervous or something...

I loved the short. I thought it was hysterical when he stepped out and into SoHo and when he did what he did with the skis.

The elevator music: (y). Perfect. It was one of my favorite bits.

ehhh. it was a little "too obvious" - to get proper laughs.

i feel if it wasnt david cross, people would not have laughed - thats a bad thing!

Actually, the DVD is July 25, not June...

And they were at the beginning of the Battery Park screening as well, sitting in the back, for those of you that were there.

i would expect Tuesday's Q & A with Yauch to be more centered around the film itself... the Museum of Moving Images is part of the screening, so maybe there will be a moderator...

damn, I have to get my hands on one of them shirts... Alex?;)

I can't believe the Beasties were at Union Square, and I was down the street in Times Square! I figured it was a toss up, and my sister works in Times Square so I went to that one. Can't believe it. 20 years I've been a fan. Missed them.

Loved the movie, can't wait to buy it on DVD.

Yeah Alex, may I have one of those shirts? ;) lol

Well I would have loved to have gone to the NYC screening but since my friend was supposed to go it was much more convenient for her to go to the Westbury, L.I. theater. Well, after I purchased the tickets she told me that she couldn't make it and I had already bought quite a few, so I had to go to the L.I. screening. When I got there I gave my ticket away to some random guy, he told me he was at the MSG concert. I think many people there were at the concert because during the film I seen some people scream and clap when certain fans came on the screen. The crowd was pretty still, only one or two heads were bobbing, including mine.

I really love this film, I could see it over and over again. I just want to get up and dance everytime. :D I also liked the instrumental part, that was a nice way to just mellow out a bit and enjoy the music. I thought the Hornblower film was cute, it had its funny moments. The only thing that I could say that I didn't like as much in the Hornblower film was the unsteadiness of the camera. I get motion sick easily, I think if I wasn't sitting so close up I would have been alright though. Maybe it was shaky to mirror the whole idea of the fans filming the concert? Either way, I still thought it was interesting and I'd like to see it on the DVD. :)

Wow I'm so jealous of you Union Square heads and if I wasn't in FL I would have been there too! =o/
Maybe we'll get another full appeareance on Tuesday.

I think it's the fact that I've barely slept the past few days but I have tears in my eyes lol

Glad to hear a release date on the DVD .. I can't wait.

And I got word from my bother last nite that over 200 tickets were sold for the Boston screening.

I want a shirt AND a poster!!!! I would have worn the shirt around the conference I'm at =o/ 60,000 people at a show I'm going to tomorrow it would have been great promotion.

Fuckin grrrrrrrrreat movie!

So glad I got to actually see that show, since it was the only one they played in NY and it was also the same night as my wedding. I seriously considered changing the date but the whole wedding planning ball had been set into motion already. There was no stopping it at that point without some familial blood being shed. We had some mightly pissed off friends (3 of whom were with us last night at the screening) but the Boys were properly represented at the reception. :D

I was at Union Square show. It was excellent of the guys to show, although I kinda wish the Q&A had been a little more organized.

so did the wedding outrank seeing the beasties in concert?

I remember thinking after leaving that this is the best thing ive ever been a part of and that my wedding someday had to be total kickass to beat that concert.

Well the wedding MUST "outrank" the Beasties simply due to the fact that it only happens once (hopefully, ideally). I've been lucky enough to see them live like 7 or 8 times over the years and although each time has been stellar and unique, the experience was nonetheless somewhat repeatable.

Besides, rocking out to Stand Together in a wedding dress was pretty fuckin special. :D

Whats the drop ball with the radio show and Adrock saying they'd be back ?

about the radio show im pretty sure they meant

mike d, 'dropped the ball' = they've been sleeping on the radio show and haven't done a new one as promised yet'

adrock, 'its coming back' = the show will make a comeback.

he also said its gonna be big and to look out for it i think. their radio shows are great - they play GREAT music - and i hope they get back to it soon... on a regular basis?

anyone else there last night for the Q&A? thoughts?

i thought the q&a was cute. nice. the only thing that bugged me was mike d on his fuckin sidekick. i wanted to yell at him to get some better manners. haha. i wanted to ask questions, but all the questions coming from people were stupid and gay and people were yelling... i got pissy and decided to shut up and enjoy my boyssss.
