favorite songs by kanye, non-albums:
beanie seigal - the truth
scarface - guess whose back
ludacris & trina - b r right
talib kweli - get by "or" i try "and" this way - dilated peoples
twista - overnight celebrity
camron - dead or alive & down and out
mobb deep - throw your hands (which sounds like that john legend song he did)
mos def - sunshine

plus he did alot of good songs with jay-z, and most of common sense's last album, specifically the track "the corner"

he has two solo albums, both are well worth getting. very solid efforts.

as for productions, he handles quite a bit on jay-z's "the blueprint" which is a great cd.

Yeah you should listen to Kanye if you hate whites for no reason. Especially if they have blue eyes. That's a real good reason to hate someone.

I know that if someone hates me and all of my innocent ancestors, I like to run out and buy their record...just to be a moron!

And for the other idiot, I'd rather eat 4 bowls of Colon Blow before listening to Paul "Gargle Balls" Wall

Just my 50 cents (another real piece of work)

Grow up? Have your balls dropped yet son? I was making records before... Hating people because their skin is a different shade is grown up?

What's a matter did I point out to you that your idol is a biggot? Have you ever listened to his lyrics? Or do you just sit there like the rest of the newjacks and go "uh, yeah, uh, yeah, uh, c'mon?"

You should open your eyes and understand why I point out his deep seeded hatrid for other people.

AND ANYTHING featuring Brandy is NOT Hip Hop! Brandy? BRANDY?
You actually think some "Ooohhh yeeaahhhh, hee hee, woo woo woooohhh" R&B crap is Hip hop?! Never! Never has been. Never will be.

You need to learn what hip hop is! Real Hip-Hop not rap (the "c" in rap is silent by the way)

If you like biggoted jerks then go get your FUBU shirt and your Kanye cd and your cell phone and your bling that turns your neck green. Learn some more slang on MTV, then maybe in a few years you'll see what I mean.

a lot of hip hop is heavily influenced by R&B, which is a legit genre. Brandy has an amazing voice.
I actually checked the track out because Count Bass D recommended it on his blog.

Buck,

It saddens me when cyber punks like you and I are outcasts among the new hip-hop devotees.

I have my theories as to why rap music has become so ignorant. I also have my own ideas as to why so many people critically acclaim an artist who possesses maybe an ounce of creativity (and big money to back them, of course).

I've dealt with jive-talking haters. I've even stepped away from my hometown scene (or lack thereof) in the hopes to rekindle my love for an art I once so much respected and admired. I dreamed of being a voice in the rap revolution.

I'm not quite sure hip-hop music can be that voice anymore. In these days of globilization, we're going to be damn lucky to find free spirits willing to say something.

During all of this confusion, I try to re-mind myself that seeing others is as important as myself.

Seriously, when the fuck was hip hop this mass hippie lovefest everybody seems to think it was? Sure, there were a few eccentric and Afrocentric groups- but it started as a party genre and most were misogynistic and homophobic and spoke about getting high. Like now, there are a few political rappers (Talib Kweli, Mos Def, lalala so on) but most aren't, just like in the '80s (there was Public Enemy practically alongside N.W.A.). It's always been ignorant- what was so fantastically intelligent/acceptive about Slick Rick? It's the same as it's always been. And it's still good. I might go to Lauryn Hill or De La Soul to listen to something meaningful and thought-provoking, but I don't approach Snoop Dogg or Redman in the same way. Rappers don't constantly have to be making a ground-breaking point; if the production's good and the flow's good, then I can enjoy it. Besides which, if you're so worried about the state of rap, then you should consider Kanye in a more positive light- though I personally think he's pretty much a dumbass (though I love both his albums and saw his amazing live show last month), his politics delve a little deeper than Ludacris'.

And if anyone thinks Kanye hates white people, they should burn all their PE albums right fucking now.

Perhaps my previous comment could've been more thorough. My apologies.

The ignorance to which I refer is the artists' creative incapacities. I feel that today's mainstream rap artists waste my time when they're on the microphone; not to mention the weak production. The art of wordplay among modern rap acts is almost as defunct as the art of conversation among many Americans.

I appreciate all creative emcees from De La to Big L regardless of content so long as a twist is put on what it is they say. I think the world would be pretty bland without variety. Don't you?

I fail to find disparateness in many of today's hip-hop acts when, years ago, almost everyone carried their own style. For example (whether you like these groups or not), there's something to say for pioneers like Doug E Fresh, NWA, 2 Live Crew, Slick Rick, Beastie Boys, BDP, Run DMC, Fat Boys, PE and the acts that built upon that foundation like CMW, Gang Starr, Heiro, Wu Tang, Pharcyde, Roots, Talib, Biggie, Kool Keith, 2Pac, and Das Efx.

Sadly, the 'bling bling' mentality saturated the airwaves in the late 90's and spawned a plethora of lazy rappers. Perhaps the decline was planned or perhaps it was by coincidence, but rap music up to that point was a voice with which to be reckoned.

Modern Rap is the flat tire on a car that's coughing on fumes. We should be thankful for and embrace the few acts that still take the time to create something different even if it doesn't sell like crazy.

Alrighty then. I still say Buck or whatever the hell didn't know what he was talking about. I think if you look outside of Lloyd Banks and the Game you'd still find a lot that's good about rap, though.

Fear&Loathing,

I don't know anything about hip hop huh?
You can't even see to the top of this tree you're barking up.
You went on a whirlwind of nonsense for no reason. Backing up a bunch of sissy's that need to be in gangs to be tough. You're the same type I'm talking about. A WANNABE! You have to act it out. That's why you get offended when REAL hip hoppers speak the truth!!!

I was born and raised on Burnside Ave. in The Bronx! You think you know hip hop huh? Come show me what hip hop is! I'll show you how to catch a wombat!
