Tobacco lobbyist movie with Aaron Eckhart and tons of ace actors up their sleeves: William H. Macy, Sam Elliot, Mario Bello, etc.
...it was.... okay. Not quite savage or shocking enough, I don't think, but then, I'm pretty jaded and have worked with lobbyists. Frankly, The Insider is scarier than this, because this sort of humor can almost lull you into thinking it's not happening: it's not quite sharp enough or inventive enough to do much except play to the choir.
One very effective section involving nicotine patches, though. Big thumbs up on that sequence.
Eckhart's good in it, but not great -- much better in In the Company of Men and even Erin Brockovich.
